Scenario assumes election day unemployment # of 7.25%

Jindal's shortlist is Rep. (Washington 5) Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Lt. Gov (North Dakota) Drew Wrigley, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and Oklahoma Governor Dennis Daugguard.

Biden's shortlist is Missouri Governor Jay Nixon,  New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and New Jersey Senator/Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

Who wins and with which running mate?

People really need to stop including running mates and shortlists in these hypothetical scenarios.

And I think Biden would beat Jindal.

Those are a couple of bad candidates. Biden is too close to Obama to win in 2016 and he'll be 73 I believe.

I honestly think in this match-up that Biden's Veep candidate could be the decisive factor. I think Martin O'Malley would be the perfect fit. He is younger, calm, and I think would provide balance to the ticket in the sense that his clam deliberate demeanor would balance out Biden's somewhat "eccentric" personality.

Biden/O'Malley v.s Jindal/Pence:

I'm not commenting on the VP short list because it's dumb, but Biden would win. Jindal is a bad candidate who was already overrated to begin with, has a poor record as governor and nobody likes him in Louisiana of all places. He runs to the far right and then makes fun of them by calling the Republicans the stupid party. The people may not respect Biden as a presidential candidate, but he would trounce a joke like Jindal.

To his credit he had OH/IA. I tend to agree with this, whether it's Shaheen or Booker he nominates.

Ah, a race between the two candidates who will run 5th in Iowa, last in NH, then drop out. I'm not going to comment on a specific VP, but it looks like both candidates took a wide list of potential VPs, and then crossed off everyone who was viable, leaving... whatever those shortlists are.

Regardless  agree with O'Malley and Pence for the VP slots, mostly because the others are too inexperienced or obscure to be chosen (seriously who is Drew Wrigley?). I would say neither VP has the gravitas to flip any state on their own. I would expect Biden to do worse than Obama, considering the economy isn't doing great on election day, and the fact that he is Joe Biden. So here's my map.

Florida flips. That's it.

It could be a landslide either way.

Jindal's really far-right and sometimes his political instincts are poor. But he has his strengths. A young brown Rhodes scholar is good for rebranding the Republican party after Bush, Palin and Perry.  He did win reelection in a big enough way.

Biden is gaffe-prone, and seems unlikely to inspire high turnout.

So the election may just go to whoever can avoid making a sting of mistakes. Jindal's smarter. Biden's more experienced, and would likely have better handlers.

The list of running mates for Jindal is odd. I don't see the Lieutenant Governor of the 48th most populated state having much of a shot.

Biden's unlikely to pick an old white guy or a blue state white guy who hasn't been elected Governor or Senator. Shaheen refused to be considered for Gore in 2000, and Booker doesn't offer any geographic diversity, coming from a blue state next to the fairly blue Delaware. Although he'd likely be a better choice than Madigan.

I think it's more to do with Jindal than Biden.

Jindal may very well be a much worse candidate than McCain or Romney.

I think Jindal would be more careful than that. He's not very exciting though.
