Take your pick between the two most populous states in America.

I vote California (R).

Texas (R), Probably one of the best places to go if you want to save up and retire in your 40's.

Which one has a more temperate climate and wooded/rural areas? I doubt I could live anywhere hotter than here right now. Weather's been awful the last two days. Also, lakes would be nice.

Nowhere has a more temperate climate than Northern California.

I'd go mad there. Quickly.

Why doesn't this poll have I/O options for "unsure" and "Texas"? I'm unsure, as I've never been to
California, though I've been to Harris County, TX quite a bit. It's probably the part of the world I'm most familiar with other than the Oak Ridge area.

Going with California based on climate. Since I assume my income wouldn't automatically increase, I'd be stuck with a car lacking air conditioning. That said, I'll head to what's closest to the Pacific North-West which I hear is pretty nice. However, I do fear my freedoms being infringed by the Commufornians, so I'm not sure how it would go down.

Other than low cost, what does Texas offer? Hundred degree summers and the smell of cow farts. Mmmm
