Hey do we have a drunk driving/boating law on the books? I didn't see one but I could of missed it. If not, I will be happy to draft some legislation for it.

Well, as far as I know we lack one, so it would be great to see some changes there... What ideas so you have for it, GAworth?

No, not region-wide, but I believe in Atlasia we presume American state laws still apply to their respective states if the region has not passed a law to the contrary, akin to counties being able to create similar laws in some American states.

I was thinking of having a BAL of .08 for driving and boating. First offense, $100 fine, second offense $250 fine, third offense, $500 fine and revocation of license for 1 year. But I have not thought it out more than that for right now.

If the states has limits then fine, but I may still introduce something.

I think there's nothing wrong with standardizing these laws.

Midwestern State Name Act

1) It has come to our attention that numerous Atlasian personages, including many from within the Most Serene Republic itself, continue to refer to Midwestern states with outdated names.
2) Use of those outdated names will hereby lead to a $100 fine, or with the use of a Sad smiley, for each utterance, whichever is more practicable.
3) The Governor of the Midwest shall be empowered with the ability to deputize various members of the Midwestern public with the ability to administrate fines for use of the outdated names.
4) The abbreviations of state names in the Most Serene Region of the Midwest are as follows:
a) Joy: JY
b) Moxie: MX
c) Serenity: SR
d) Vitality: VY
e) Grit: GR
f) Harmony: HY
g) Bluster: BL
h) Wonderment: WO
i) Amity: AM
j) Mirth: MH

I'd like to introduce before the Alþing my package of amendments to our Constitution as promised in my November State of the Midwest speech:

I will write the bulk of the text later, but this is mostly so you all can also discuss how we go about this. The main thing here is I want a clear procedure of how we go about the Midwest Althing.

What did you have in mind?

A much shorter version of the rules that are in place for the Actual Senate, which can be found on wiki here. Also, I will look into it, but there are probably things like this for the other assemblies/houses, so I encourage you to do homework there too.

This is what I found in the wiki for the Althing, I am not sure how up to date it is.

So I guess it's my duty to formalize all rules of the Althing.

But I don't see the necessity to write a bill. The Archduke should have full power to make all he wants with "rules of the Alting" unless a Most Serene Representative disagrees with his action. And in this case, he could ask to invalidate this bill by the next Justice Officer because in this case the Archduke of Althing would violate the Midwest Constitution!

While I acknowledge Windjammer's control of the Althing rules (I created my own rules when I started my term as Archduke), I want to propose a rule for the Archduke to submit for a vote:

Rule #1: Discussion of Bills, Amendments or Acts in the Althing must last for at least 24 hours.
