7.9/10 on IMDb
56% on Rotten Tomatoes

I generally thought it was a good film. Snyder may have gotten outta hand with the last half hour or so, but the action was great. Critics and the public are divided, with critics giving it mixed reviews and the regular public loving it. What do you guys think of the movie?

I have very mixed feelings about it. I'm also not so sure that the general public is loving it. It had a HUGE second weekend drop (domestically).

Good movie. Maybe not exceptional, but definitely worth watching. I really loved the Krypton plot.

Michael Shannon did a fantastic job as General Zod. The only down side was that he never said "Kneel before Zod!" Tongue

That's more because of the two worst movies it could possibly go up against were released the same weekend. Monsters U took he family audience and World War Z took the action film audience.

Awful. I Facebook ranted about it last week.

'So Superman was unbelievably dull. I felt you hardly got to know him at all (other than the fact he hasn't painted his mothers house which he could do in about 2 seconds, the selfish little sh-t) and the film was essentially carried by two of his dead dads. That and the thick spread of 'Jesus' throughout the whole thing which left you with that 'aw no' aftertaste of a cheap film on Hallmark where the guy prays at the end and you feel bad for having ever watched it. Kudos to Russell Crowe who at least didn't attempt to sing.'

I really wish they'd stop with origin stories in reboots.  I think Man of Steel will have a very good sequel but most of this movie was boring because we all know what happened.

Meh. It's pretty good, but I'm getting tired of all these super hero movies. Looking forward to Oscar season

Freedom movie. Certainly better than the Dark Knight trilogy.

Overall, I don't know. On the one hand, the Dark Knight itself was amazing. On the other hand, Batman Begins was just OK and TDKR was very disappointing.

It was ok, but extremely cliche and basically stole the plot from The Avengers.

So they went with the "Superman is Jesus" angle again?

Well it's true and obvious.

They were basically filmed at the same time so its doubtful it stole anything from The Avengers.
