Who the hell would rather be governor of Illinois than senator?! One is an awful job that ends in being hated by the entire state and/or in jail; the other you coast to an easy victory every six years and/or run for president.

Gay marriage and pro choice aren't actual legislative issues. They're wedges used to win elections.

Morals most certainly do have a place in public policy, it's called the legislative branch, just as other subjective opinions pertaining to public policy do.  The simple fact of the matter is that the question of when a human life begins is inherently a subjective one because it depends upon the subjective definition of what constitutes a human life. That's why abortion should have been left to the legislative branch to decide in the absence of any explicit definition in the Constitution that SCOTUS could have rendered an objective decision upon.

Just do keep in mind that is a very right-leaning forum. And do yourself a favor and go ahead and delete any posts you might have ever made on any separate forums devoted to prostitution enthusiasts.

Good point, lest you be cast to the wolves.  I'd go further and say that you would do well to not even hint at the idea that you find a woman attractive, or that you would ever be interested in courting one, you domineering, misogynist swine.

Also, Democrats are not Quakers.  We're not anti-war doves in every situation.  These decisions aren't made by easy, bumpsticker platitudes, in favor or against.  It's an analysis of a variety of factors and it's always a tough choice based on the circumstances at hand.

Man makes up a religion. As part of that he gets to legitimise being a sexual predator by gifting himself a harem.

What I don't understand is how anyone could actually entertain themselves watching sports teams they're not a fan of in non-critical games. It'd be like a political junkie entertaining themselves by watching the returns on R+30 state representative seats in Alabama.

Bushie doesn't seem to get that the rest of the world isn't like his coddling, enabler household and religious clique: people being nice to you at first is no indicator that they're going to subsidize your inability to function.

I take offense for those who suggest opposition to amnesty is about race.

Well, that pretty much says that you take offense at Hispanics in general (as this is a fairly established view among the Hispanics). Which, kind of, makes you racist, doesn't it? Your remark about the few "good Jews" notwithstanding.

Context:

This is basic common sense, but it really doesn't matter how many studies show this -- the conservatives/libertarians will always deny the result. Nothing will convince them.

Perhaps a bit long for a "Simple Truth" but still:

But seriously. I remember the 1990s. There was no 'bipartisanship' - Republicans were every bit as hysterical about Clinton as they are now about Obama (although there was a creative edge to their frothing paranoid gibberish back then that is lacking at present, alas). What Clinton did was -after the 1994 debacle - to cave in to the Republican agenda on pretty much every aspect of domestic policy. And they still hated him...

The Arizona map has a slight partisan effect (why deny what's clearly true?) but is saintly compared to the average. Whinging about it thus lacks dignity.

OK but Ted Cruz's position is the same as every other Republican candidate. Yet another example of people supporting the Democratic agenda but voting Republican.

Bipartisanship is hardly something to laud when it involves setting the stage for the financial crisis, forcing single mothers to work menial jobs while their children languish in substandard daycare, and denying federal recognition and benefits to married couples who are gay.

There's no real point now. The time to approve it would have been a few months ago to save the Senate majority. I doubt it will matter in 2016.

How about just vote your actual opinion?  Thinking like this is terrifyingly partisan.

What are they counting as a small business? I don't understand why ACA would make things harder for small business (if this is accurate) when the employer mandate doesn't even apply to businesses below 50 employees. Before, small businesses either had to offer expensive health insurance plans to employees, or compete at a disadvantage on the job market compared to large companies offering full benefits. Now, at least employees who don't receive health insurance at work can receive subsidies to buy on the individual market if they make below a certain amount.

Political arguments on Facebook are just about the worst thing on the Internet; even moreso than YouTube comments, because this time it's your own friends and/or family that you're discovering to be moronic assholes.
