Do you guys remember when BushOklahoma was a mod?
He's far from the only example of a faulty mod selection process.

Fortunately, the process worked right when Torie became a mod!

I think the same people obsessed with Opebo are the ones who are trying really, really hard to save the Update.

I'm quite the little munchkin, aren't I?

As somebody who has had people wish that I commit suicide, I don't give a damn about the human dignity of a savage bully. Which is what the Update enablers are.

Everyone deserves human dignity.  If you can't accept that, you have become the monster you claim to fight.

IT'S MAH RAHT TO EAT POISON!  NO GUBMIT CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE!!!1

Seriously, there are hundreds of unnatrual chemicals that are illegal for companies to put into food.  This is just another one to go on that long list.  Anyone angry about the ban is just faux-raging for attention or so so blindly hateful of Obama that they've lost all rational thinking ability.

I try to think of the Democratic Underground as little as possible, and I always succeed unless someone mentions them.

Not that math and science is unimportant (it very much is!), but the STEM fetishization is awful. Math and science should be directed towards more practical application.

STEM is what drives the world. It really disgusts me to see people who are so unappreciative of science's role.

If you want a world of robots that's fine with me, but the real crime is the lack of appreciation for the humanities which make us more than producers and/or consumers.

Yes, but the fact he left because a pedophile apologist was banned tempers it somewhat.  If he thinks it was really worth it to put so much on the line for such a character, then perhaps it was for the best, no matter how otherwise respectable he was as a poster.

Before the campaign really starts, election discussion is always pretty terrible. Discussion of the results afterwards, when there interesting things to map, is usually good. When the campaign is actually in its main stages, it's more of a mix.

This. It's mostly an election results and maps site, and it's great to discuss that. The problem with discussing elections is there's nothing meaty to discuss, so it's just pointless speculation and a bunch of hackery.

The Koch Brothers, inflexible libertarians at heart, cannot stand taxpayer money being spent on anything that does not financially benefit them directly.

WTF Snowstalker? She assaulted a police officer, this was ascertained by a jury of eight women and four men.

The video proves that the cop assaulted her - not the other way around.

Then how is it that all twelve jurors didn't see it the "correct" way?

The jury could have been paid off.

It is so *cute* how you think that anyone would see the Occupy movement to be a sufficient threat to the powers that be that they would waste money buying a jury to wrongfully convict one random person.

Never thought I'd put a Sanchez post in here, but this is one massive truth bomb:

Animals exist for a reason. We shouldn't beat and starve them, but I don't see anything unethical about eating meat, hunting, or wearing furs. It's part of the food chain.

"the reason animals exist is to be eaten by humans."
that's a straight rephrasing of sanchez's quote.

I think what he meant is that all animals survive my eating other living things (aside from decomposes, but we aren't decomposes) and so it isn't some crime against nature to eat other animals.

Making alcohol more readily available to college students would probably make the rape problem worse, not better. The idea that frat boys are suddenly going to be responsible with alcohol because they can legally buy it is insane.

Actually, on the one metric that actually matters, that being funding for veterans, California is ranked 2nd. Who gives a flying  about googling flags or liking something on Facebook? Also, measuring historical sites on a per capita basis is unfair. Of course states like Wyoming which don't have any people are going to be #1 on a per capita basis in everything.

In 2008, people knew the real Hillary. The evil, wicked, ambitious, convictionless witch that we all hated. She would have lost North Carolina and black turnout would have fallen across the country. This delusion that Hillary had a winning charm is just that. A delusion.

I'm sorry, but being serious here... but Opie seriously freaked me out, especially with his "underage girls" views. I am glad he is gone.

In light of their comments just within this thread, TNF and Snowstalker seem like obvious candidates, though Snow obviously is just trolling.
lol

If you're going to define "zionism" so broadly as to include any practice of Judaism and then say"zionism" is automatically racism, that's anti-Semitic.

Ugh.  Ernest may not be quite as malevolent as Todd Akin, but he sure as hell doesn't know when to just stop talking about rape.

It's simply a commemoration in the same way as sharing an image on Facebook or something like that.

Exactly, yes.

And if something like that frustrates you or makes you cringe, you need to rethink what is important in the grand scheme of things.
