Every decade from the 1730's to the 1960's has at least one president born in it except these three. What happened? Were all of them too extreme or unpopular?

There's still time for a 50's president.

This has been discussed before, so a search might help you.

I don't think anyone currently in the running was born in the fifties.

I think we should rectify the situation and nominate someone born in the 1810s immediately.

Clinton and Dubya were both born near the front end of the baby boom, and Obama was born at the tail end. It's still possible, though unlikely, that we'll have someone who was born in between.

Mostly, luck. Given there's been approximately two Presidents per decade over the country's history, it's statistically likely that a few decades will not have had a President born in them even if there's zero relationship between birth year and likelihood of becoming President. There probably is some relationship (see Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers for how birth year matters in various fields), but with such a small sample size there isn't much significance to the data we have.

Luck.  There's no real reason why or why not other than the best candidates to run for President just happened to not be born in those decades.

I suspect for the 1810s decade, many of the politicians either were voted out in Republican sweeps of Congress, overshadowed by Civil War era heroes (born in the 1820s and after) or were Southron and thus not viable national candidates after the Rebellion.
