Queen's name isn't listed on the SoS site.

Which is why it's odd...this guy has been planning this senate run for months!

Josh Nelson, a GOP incumbent, forgot to file for reelection, and AFAIK, no other GOPers have.

Quite literally D+1.

Very Important Update: The candidate list has just been updated with the latest filings that were stamped by the 25th but didn't arrive till today.
Josh Nelson has filed for re-election, so District 23 is now being contested!
The GOP have also got their challenger (Mike Queen) confirmed for Senate District 12, leaving Senate District 13 as the only uncontested district.
The GOP finally also has candidates in House Districts 5 and 65, both winnable seats for them.

The West Virginia GOP is going all-out this year, contesting every single seat in the legislature.

I was confused for a sec, as I thought there were 34 districts, but I found out that 2 members serve a district! And that they must be from a different county. Interesting.

Anyway, painful seeing so many uber Romney districts in '12 being rated as "Likely D". West Virginia will probably survive the longest in the disappearance of blue dogs and yellow dogs.

A Louisiana-centric article, but Capito is the third highest recipient of donations from the energy industry.

Manchin supports a bill heading to Tomblin's desk that would ban abortion after 20 weeks. If this becomes a big issue, it might be awkward for Tennant, who has support from EMILY's List.

Isn't Capito pro-choice? I can't see abortion becoming an issue.

Any chance of a Constitution or Libertarian candidate making a huge deal over abortion and siphoning off around 10% of the vote?

I think that the Constitution Party will probably run someone this cycle. I doubt their candidate will have any effect, however.

Well if he wants to run with Obamacare, this is a damn good way to do it. This, and the other ad spot the Majority PAC put out, are pretty impressive.
