You can take the girl out of the south but not the south out of the girl.  Smiley

Northern - 83%

Your accent is Northern, which used to be the media standard in the '50s and '60s. Your accent could either be Inland Northern (Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo) or the more broadcasting-friendly Upstate NY/Western New England accent. If you have the Inland North accent, outsiders probably ask you a lot if you're from Chicago or Wisconsin.

Well no sh**t.

85% Northeastern. Not surprised.

One thing I do not have is a Pittsburgh accent. Long vowels, like "I," usually become "a" sounds, as in "cat," for one thing, and it's quite pronounced.

100% Northeastern.

It appears that Northeastern is the most compatible with the Australian accent.

I mean, just listen to Larry the Cable Guy, he isn't even from the South.
Dan Whitney doesn't sound like he's from the south.  Larry is just an act, one he's almost always in, but an act none the less.

Not a very good test. How can I get both 83% Northern and 73% Southern? Granted, I'm a linguistic mutt (one Mid-Atlantic parent and one Midwest parent), but.

88% Mid-Atlantic
83% Northern
81% Midland
73% Southern
58% Northeastern
50% Western
38% North Central
23% Northeast New England
