Stevenson could've potentially won against Taft (though narrowly). Not sure how Stevenson would be as President, but a President during that time, by comparison to other decades had a relatively easy time. I could see Stevenson being re-elected in 56. However, Democrats have no chance holding the Presidency in 1960.

He would certainly be more belligerent than Eisenhower, given that during the Cold War, Democrats were always more willing to utilize force as a means of carrying out their foreign policy objectives than were the Republicans.
