Here's what I think:
After the amazing win by the Republicans, they easily re-nominated President Jerry and VP Cathcon... Meanwhile in the Democrats' corner, the main contenders were Representative Windjammer (D-NY), Senator Snowstalker (D-PA) and former VP nominee Senator Clarence (D-FL) Senator Clarence just barely got over the required delegates because at the last minute, Rep Windjammer ended his campaign and endorsed Clarence... At the DNC in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Democrats nominated Clarence for President and officially nominated Senator Napoleon of Connecticut for VP... Meanwhile, excited at their recent gain in stature and dignity, the Libertarians convinced two years previous to the election, Governor Goldwater of Washington to switch his party affiliation and run for the Libertarian nomination... He easily won it and picked Governor MattVT (R-VT)... The base was definitely rallied, but in strange areas... The Democrats regained their California base but they barely even added New York and Connecticut to their war chest.. They regained their old 1860's-1950's southern base (Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida)... Meanwhile the Libertarians found some gains in the Northwest (Washington state, Oregon, Idaho) Northeast (Vermont, New Hampshire) They did retain Texas and South Carolina and New Mexico...
Closest states:
Reps were second place: New Hampshire, Idaho, Texas, Florida, Alabama, New Mexico
Dems were second place: New York, Connecticut, Tennessee, North Carolina, Missouri,
Liberts were second place: Oklahoma, Arizona, California
