I think Enzi wins this easily.  The Cheney name is not popular in conservative circles.

Lummis and Barrasso have also endorsed Enzi, with Lummis taking some sharp jabs at Cheney.

I thought Enzi had a pretty solid voting record. I'm not sure exactly of her motivations for primary Enzi, other than the fact she wants his seat.

It's pretty much that.

Normally I would be annoyed with this type of primary, which normally only serves to split the base and cause losses, I say go ahead to Cheney. It's not like we're trying to pick it up like in West Virginia or South Dakota, so I don't mind her running as long as she doesn't have funds diverted from races that really matter.

As has Rand Paul.

EDIT: too lazy to write my other blurb

Enzi has three times voted against Amnesty. I am not so sure a Cheney would be as reliable considering. Lummis can have the seat when Enzi leaves, but for now I think I am sticking with him.

If you consider Dick Cheney a woman, sure.

Dick Cheney's wife is Lynne. The lesbian is Mary. This one is Liz.

C'mon guys, keep your female Cheneys straight (even the one who isn't straight).

Campaign site is up.

That's pretty high-tech by Wyoming standards.

This is no cause for celebration, believe me. The Republicans could run a convicted serial killer for federal office in this state and there would not be a single Democrat in Wyoming that could defeat them.

They have a neo-Nazi running in the Republican primary.

I really don't want another Cheney in US politics ever again (unless it's a liberal Cheney-family).

But I have a feeling she might defeat Enzi and then of course win the GE.

BTW: PPP is extremely likely to poll WY this weekend. WY currently leads by a lot in their poll.

I don't think she will. Wyoming is a small state, probably more knowing of their politicians. If she strikes them as out of touch, it will hurt her more than in other states.

I'd much rather they poll Alaska than Wyoming.

Conor Friedersdorf takes little Lizzy to the woodshed.

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/07/angling-for-the-senate-keep-america-safe-from-liz-cheney/277866/

There are probably some Republican operatives who are upset that she didn't "wait her turn." Politicos are often overly invested in dues paying, obsess over perceived slights, fetishize tribal loyalty, and exhibit entitlement on a scale that used to be considered sinful. The Republicans who oppose Cheney for those reasons should get over themselves. They should oppose her based on the dearth of what she has to offer, and the many discrediting statements, actions, and policy stances that call her values, character, and judgment into question.
This is someone who has a history of mistaken foreign-policy judgments, an inability to make sophisticated critiques of ideological opponents, and a bad habit of behaving dishonorably toward rivals. She should never be trusted to hold elected office in America.

They have a neo-Nazi running in the Republican primary.

Not just a neo-nazi.. a mercenary neo-nazi!  http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2013/06/28/first-looney-toon-declares-for-14-meet-former-soldier-of-fortune-thomas-bleming/

On a serious note, yes most WY GOP elected officials in state dislike Cheney, and dislike her running, and will stick with Enzi. Lummis especially is going to be tenacious for him, because she wants his seat next time, and Cheney could take that away from her.

Neo-Con and Bush money may pour into Cheney though, and people like Erickson do have impact.

In such a small state with tiny media markets that are cheap, things are going to get oversaturated incredibly fast, and every voter in the state could more or less be personally spoken to by the campaigns, so expect a lot of bad blood, also it is a close knit state.

In the end though I think Cheney is too much of a carpetbagger to win, and the Rand Paul faction of the GOP will fight hard against her.. given Ron Paul got 20% of the caucus vote in the 2012 GOP caucus there, that is a sizable faction.
