Joe Miller says he'd side with the Ted Cruz wing of the House Republicans if he were in Congress. He blames Obama for taking hostages:

It must be nice to live in his flowery fantasy land.

Treadwell is more wishy-washy:

Obviously a guy who lost to a write-in candidate yet thinks he has a chance in the next election anyway isn't very in touch with reality.

This is somewhat for the lulz, but Treadwell shares a few thoughts with UAA college students.

I'm optimistic about AK, there's a decent chance that our dear Miller wins the Pub primaries Cheesy

They probably would have had to leave the beltway to find an Alaskan actress.

Wouldn't it be funny if resources commissioner Dan Sullivan were to win in 2014 and then in 2016 Murkowski retires and Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan won?

How Murkowski could help Begich. Their voting records overlap in several areas, limiting the pool of issues that Republicans can effectively attack Begich on (without snubbing Murkowski).

Who gives a...? Roll Eyes

In 2016, it will be her turn anyway and with somone more solid then Miller.

If Treadwell is too much of a Murkowski tool to effectively challenge Begich, then it I say one more reason to go with Sullivan.

Just being a Murkowski-ite is reason enough to not nominate him.

She also said she never endorses in contested primaries (her father had the same policy and refused to endorse her in one when she first ran for Leg in '98!) but will support a non-Miller nominee. Sullivan seems to be the best choice.

She's going to run as an Indie in 2016 and will probably win again. No way does she run in the GOP primary (she knows she'd lose) or switch parties (political suicide). I also can't see her retiring given how much she obviously wants to keep her job. I imagine it will be a 2006 Connecticut style race.

She won as a write-in in 2010 - I don't think she'll have too much difficulty in 2016 when she will be on the ballot.

Against someone far more credible then Miller in a three way, I would suspect she would be at a disadvantage in my opinion.

Only if she could pull what Sanders does in Vermont, would she have the upper hand.

The Murkowski brand is discredited and only Miller's controversies saved her last time.

Yes, but you can count on Democrats abandoning whatever perennial candidate they put up for Murkowski in the end, just like Republicans did in Connecticut in 2006.

That plus her support among the more moderate Republicans and independents in the state would likely be enough.

As long as the the Democrat gets into the double digits, and the Republican is not Joe Miller she can be defeated as an Independent.

She won as a write-in in 2010 - I don't think she'll have too much difficulty in 2016 when she will be on the ballot.

Yes, they wrote in the name of someone who they have seen on the ballot for thirty years because the alternative was a joke or a Democrat. Even then she only got 42% against Joe Miller. Hardly a ringing endorsement for the wonders of Lisa Murkowski.

I'd say winning a write-in Senate campaign is pretty impressive period, considering it's only been done twice in the entire history of the country. Tongue
