Bumped again for obvious reasons.

For the love of God, Oldies use it. I can even give you your own Deluge if you want.

The Democratic Party is no longer racist. You're an African American and yes, while "Democrats" like Jackson, Breckenridge and Buchanan were racist, it was FDR and especially Eleanor, both Democrats who started to work to expand black rights in the modern day. There's no doubt that we still had racist Dems after that like Bill Fullbright and even still today, but you should understand that while history's important, present day politics will always matter most. Republicans are against government assistance that blacks in large quantities need, have little diversity in the party, support racist Stand Your Ground laws, are against affirmative action, and you can see in conservative Tea Party Republicans like Kasich and Walker try and suppress the vote of blacks by cutting early voting, requiring IDs to vote, and ending Sunday voting. Lincoln Chafee, a Republican turned Democrat, is not racist. Charlie Crist, a Republican turned Democrat, is not a racist. Jim Jeffords, a Republican turned I-D, is not a racist. Al Franken, a DFL, is not a racist. Amy Klobuchar, a DFL, is not a racist. Dianne Feinstein is not a racist. Barbara Boxer is not a racist. Sherrod Brown is not a racist. Ed FitzGerald is not a racist. Mark Schauer is not a racist.

Martin Luther King was also close to the Democrats and the Kennedys, but I guess that was just his racism.
Martin Luther King never identified or affiliated with any political party.

He actually self-identified as a social democrat. Today he would either be a Green or (more likely) an Independent a la Bernie Sanders.

He was much, much, much closer to the Democrats than he was to Republicans. He opposed Goldwater in 1964 and thought very little of Reagan.

He may not have like the conservative wing of the GOP, but he mostly supported Republicans for Congress in the South, and he also supported Everett Dirksen.

He supported the moderate and liberal wings of the GOP (Eisenhower, Nixon, Rockefeller, Scranton, Romney, McCloskey, Javits, etc.), just like he supported many moderate and liberal Democrats.

This is a liberal/progressive/Marxist website, trying to claim Dr. King as their own, and it's just as laughable when they do it as when many conservatives do it.  The fact of the matter is, Dr. King was, first and foremost, a Christian minister who believed in doing the right thing, no matter what the consequence.  He didn't care if it was "liberal" or "conservative," he just did it.  And I remember watching an interview he gave for NBC in the 50s; he said that he was never a fan of socialism.

Do you have anything to refute the claims of the article ( all of which are sourced), or are you just going to ignore it like you do anything that contradicts the conclusion you arrived at before looking at the facts?

I just did.  I don't know where to find the video, but I remember watching it on my Roku.

Another link that dispels the myth of King as a Marxist.

Context:

No, although I sometimes wonder whether Jesse Jackson may have had something to do with MLK's assassination.

Not a fan of some of his stances (like his stance on life issues, for example), but FF for defeating Quinn.
