Anything have anything to do with climate issues. Snow in that sense may be the single most valuable poster around here in a given field. He knows a heck of a lot about the topic, and has the ability to elucidate well (i.e., educate), about which most of us are rather clueless, even if we don't admit it. In his realm, Snow is indeed the jewel in the crown. Now as to his views on the ideal highest marginal income tax rates ... Tongue

Or RogueBeaver is above. My bad. My favorite aspect about him is his good common sense, and calm temperament. That he tends to agree with me fairly frequently, is just the icing on the cake.

Pretty sure it's impossible for a 60 year old gay dude in SoCal who smokes weed to not be a pretty cool guy.

Not much interaction with him, so I guess his sig. My paternal grandfather was from MO though.

There's a really good, defined aesthetic to his cultural tastes, even though it's in some respects quite different from mine.

Seems genuinely nice, I have a feeling I would be friends with him IRL.

He seems to have a much broader understanding of the world--beyond just Euro-America or specialization in some specific country or countries in another region--than most posters.

As often as I may disagree with him on some things he's evidently one of the most thoughtful people here and provides a genuinely valuable, interesting insight in his comments. That's vanishingly rare on internet forums in general.

One of the nicest people on the forum while being far less of a Moderate Hero than his reputation would indicate.

Your affability and ability to speak calmly and frankly even when there is major disagreement makes me respect your maturity and your personality.  That you also sometimes get angry and snipe at people only confirms my thoughts.

Nobody even comes close to Snowguy's ability to describe his local culture. Old ladies making mayo based "salads" and dessert "bars" in the Lutheran church basement. The ice fishermen. The local accent. When Snowguy describes Minnesota, you feel like you're there.
