Who would get the nod for Minority/Majority leader? It would actually be beautiful if we became the majority and lost McConnell as leader at the same time.

I would say Cornyn. Thune, I think he will retire in 2016.

The only female conservatives are Ayotte and Fischer. Ayotte would get knocked off easily if she got even half the crap McConnell is, and Fischer seems pretty blah.

I could see Handel or Cheney getting leadership out of the 2014 candidates. Other than that I don't see any Republican woman who could consistently hold onto leadership for more than two terms (by the time Ellmers could ascend NC will be a purple-blue).

It's probably Cornyn which is actually not an improvement from McConnell.

There's precedent for this. Reid was previously Democratic Whip and McConnell was Republican Whip.

Cornyn will most likely be elevated to leader, but I don't expect him to be able to hold it for long if that's the case.  Blunt, Burr, Thune, and Barrasso are all much too ambitious to let that happen Wink

If Cornyn is elevated to speaker I can see Blunt or Burr being made whip

Hopefully Barrasso or Thune, maybe even Alexander. Anybody but Cornyn really.
