Let's say Arizona Governor Bruce Babbitt (D) decided to extend his tenure as governor and ran again in 1986 and won a third full four-year term against Evan Mecham (R) by double digits: 57-40 (assuming the 3rd party candidate doesn't run), Babbitt would have served until 1991 totaling 13 years of service, but short of breaking George P.W. Hunt's 17 years in office.

*Symington would still win the 1990 election and win re-election in 1994.
*Rose Mofford would still have stayed as AZ Secretary of State until 1991.
