If Grimes ends up losing by a very slim margin, there's going to be a lot of finger pointing at the DSCC (even though they later went back in with a reduced ad buy, them pulling out got a lot of bad press).

It doesn't help Grimes that more Kentuckians are identifying themselves as Republicans as opposed to Democrats for the first time ever:

What rhymes with Alison Lundergan Grimes? Left-wing mime.

Only like 20,000 people in Kentucky actually even work in the coal industry? Why do people care so much about this? I wish Grimes had the guts to tell them that their industry is destroying the planet and the sooner is vanishes into history the better.

You can't really attribute something a donor says to the candidate they're donating to. Otherwise McConnell and Romney are white supremacists and Obama is a communist.

Or she could tactfully point out how the Democrats are going to be a lot more helpful to the suddenly-unemployed people who used to work in the coal industry once it goes away than the Republicans would be.

Both the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Courier-Journal just endorsed Grimes. Pretty strongly worded editorials as well.

My jaw just about hit the floor when I saw that the Herald-Leader endorsed Grimes.

It doesn't matter. Newspaper endorsements only matter when they endorse Republicans. Wink

Or when it's only the third endorsement a Republican has gotten from a certain newspaper in over 20 years.

Are those both Democratic papers? What are their endorsement records?

Yes; both went for Obama twice, and Kerry before that. However, it was an interview with the Courier-Journal's editorial board where Grimes refused to say who she voted for in 2012.

A new (non-junk) poll would be nice.

Newspapers that usually endorse Dems also endorse Grimes. MOMENTUM.

Historically, they were Democratic. But in this cycle, it's nothing but attack attack attack against Grimes.

That was a pretty good ad; McConnell actually came across as kind of likable in it.

I feel like that's the point, since Mitch McConnell is trying to get rid of the image that he is basically satin. We'll see if this helps or not.

Isn't it a little too late for that? Maybe it would've been better back in like...summer.
