I feel bad for Kentuckians...they are represented by two of the biggest dunderheads in the U.S. Senate, definitely the worst overall delegation. I'd move to Ohio.

Did you forget about Texas and Oklahoma?

And South Carolina.

Meh. Graham is conservative but at least he's willing to govern. Scott is a Tea Partier but he's not a bomb thrower. If DeMint was still there they'd be in the running though.

Didn't Sharron Angle outraise Reid? Senate leaders make great lightning rods.

I wonder why. Like Rothenberg said, it's not like Joe Miller, Christine O'Donnell, or Richard Mourdock were serious opponents, yet they beat politicians that were institutions in their states. And Bevin seems stronger than all of the aforementioned nutters were.

I think Grimes' support might have just increased several points among men in Kentucky.

Combine that with the fact that he trails Grimes in the poll aggregate, clearly the likely R rating for this race is justified.

Grimes outraises McConnell again in Ky. Senate race

WASHINGTON — Kentucky Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes has outraised Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell by almost $1 million during the second quarter.

Grimes collected $4 million between April and June, besting the $3.1 million McConnell raised during the same period.

It's the third time that Grimes, Kentucky's secretary of state, has surpassed the Senate's top Republican in campaign fundraising in one of the nation's most closely watched Senate battles.

Her campaign said it has $6.2 million in the bank as the Election Day nears. Campaign officials said they are plowing money into a field and data-gathering operation. The campaign began running television ads in May.

McConnell had more cash on hand, with $9.8 million.

More evidence this is a Likely R race.

At least he doesn't have to hold his nose anymore. I didn't know turtles had an odor.

Grimes should practice hunting turtles instead. Especially mutant ones that have morphed into human form.

I think this bad publicity is better than admitting that she did vote for Obama, because that would allow McConnell to run a barrage of ads featuring her saying that.

I disagree - I think an add with that cringe-inducing 30 seconds will be more damaging than an add with her saying she voted for Obama (which everybody already assumes anyway).

Chuck Todd said today that Grimes "disqualified herself". He's being over-dramatic, of course, but he has a point.  I don't understand why politicians do this. Just lie. Say something like "yes, but I regret it", "I thought it was the lesser evil", "I didn't, I wasn't comfortable with any of the choices", "Romney, and his views on women/poor/whatever, was simply an unacceptable choice for me", "There are rare instances when I don't vote Democratic and that was one of them", etc. I think virtually everything is better than that painful dodging.

Chuck Todd is a ridiculous concern troll. As if this is the biggest mistake a candidate has made all cycle. Roll Eyes

Grimes not answering a question? OMG IT'S OVER SHE DISQUALIFIED HERSELF BIGGEST SCANDAL EVER

McConnell having to fire his campaign manager for literal bribery? Eh, who cares, it's irrelevant.

I like the article they linked to better: "How the media has helped normalize GOP crazy"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2014/10/10/how-the-media-has-helped-normalize-gop-crazy/

Grimes is "disqualified" for not saying who she voted for, but Ernst gets a pass for suggesting nullification, impeaching Obama, that there were WMDs in Iraq, arresting federal regulators... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Politico compares Grimes to Todd Akin. LOL. Looks like the media isn't even trying to hide that they're on #TeamMitch.

Yeah, clearly this race is safe R. McConnell's just blowing $2 million of his own money for the hell of it.

If Grimes ends up losing by a very slim margin, there's going to be a lot of finger pointing at the DSCC (even though they later went back in with a reduced ad buy, them pulling out got a lot of bad press).

You can't really attribute something a donor says to the candidate they're donating to. Otherwise McConnell and Romney are white supremacists and Obama is a communist.

Both the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Courier-Journal just endorsed Grimes. Pretty strongly worded editorials as well.

It doesn't matter. Newspaper endorsements only matter when they endorse Republicans. Wink

Fun ad, but it has literally no substance.

I feel like that's the point, since Mitch McConnell is trying to get rid of the image that he is basically satin. We'll see if this helps or not.

Isn't it a little too late for that? Maybe it would've been better back in like...summer.

There will be another Bluegrass/SUSA poll out today @ 7:30PM EST, I think.

Crossing my fingers. They've been Grimes' best pollster, if they show her out of it, there's probably no hope left.

Republicans are mailing official seeming letters with "ELECTION VIOLATING NOTICE" that are of course attacking Grimes. Kentycky Republican party and McConnell campaign = total scumbags.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/10/31/1340676/-McConnell-s-Kentucky-GOP-threatens-Grimes-voters-with-fraud-charges-just-for-listening-to-Grimes

Who cares? Grimes won't say who she voted for. Disqualified!
