Bevin doesn't have a chance in hell against Grimes.

I think McConnell will win the primary because he's basically become a teabagger himself. Doesn't he support the national "right-to-work" bill?

Ed Marksberry is now running as an independent.

I like Marksberry, but I'm afraid to vote for him, for fear of draining votes from Grimes.

If Kentucky had the sense to enact instant runoff voting before the election, this won't be a problem.

I feel bad for Kentuckians...they are represented by two of the biggest dunderheads in the U.S. Senate, definitely the worst overall delegation. I'd move to Ohio.

Did you forget about Texas and Oklahoma?

And South Carolina.

I'm not sure if Democrats have a candidate for this seat now.

I'm pretty sure they do. But they still need to find one in the 4th District to run against the unpopular Thomas Massie.

Strong enough to beat Andy Barr.

I have always love your optimism Bandit Tongue. But I'm not sure you're right.

It's Andy Barr. In Lexington.

He's more likely to get beaten than Massie, that's for sure.

Appropriate that NR finds this: Bevin attended a Bircher meeting last year. His campaign emphasizes that they were far from the only people attending said meeting, including reps of Massie and Paul.

Union KY is pretty close to here. An ultraconservative suburb.

Wouldn't it just be a kick in the can if McConnell was defeated by and succeeded by someone even more right-wing than him? I remember McConnell during his first term and hoping back then that he would be defeated - but not by somebody like Bevin.

That would be totally, completely unacceptable in a democratic republic.

So how well does everyone see Bevin doing? My guess is 34-37%.

He'll come much closer to winning the primary than the polls show, but he won't win it.

She's a female Senator that can attract fundraisers and support without giving the Republicans much attack fodder. Pretty good choice.

I think she's already come out against misnamed "right-to-work" laws, so I'll give her the benefit of a doubt on other major issues, unless I find out otherwise.

What exactly is McConnell's job then?

Then again, I can't figure out what his actual profession was before he became a senator. Was he a truck driver, a librarian, a gas station attendant, an IT professional? Is there any proof that he's ever done any real work like I have?

So I guess he didn't have to get a regular job first before he became Jefferson County Judge-Exec.

McConnell is winning the primary because he is in essence a Tea Party candidate. Look at his voting record. He even supports a federal "right-to-work" law (which nobody except the Tea Party likes).

This is a pretty good ad - simply because of the photo of McConnell awkwardly holding a gun.

Ipsos: McConnell leads among Likely Voters, Grimes leads among Registered Voters

http://www.ipsos-na.com/download/pr.aspx?id=13904

Also, this poll oversampled Republicans - 38 to 35 - in a 1.4-to-1 Democratic state.

The internals probably aren't bad, but it sounds like the internals are looking better in Georgia (where Nunn is a better candidate and would actually be able to hold on to the seat if she ran for re-election).

David Perdue is a truly bad man. But the Democrats' comeback of the late 2000s proved a strategy covering more states is better. (Remember the 50-state strategy?)
