I feel Sheila Jackson Lee should be on there somewhere.

SJL is a complete idiot who shouldn't be in politics, but I wouldn't put her in the same category as freepcrusher's list. She doesn't really belong in the same category as

1) A MASSIVE racist
2) A rapist and a racist
3) A racist
4) A dude who was kicked out of the John Birch Society for being too far-right
5) A far-right bigot
6) A corrupt asshole
7) A more racist version of Jenny McCarthy
8.) Someone who should probably be in a mental institution
9) A racist and a conspiracy nut
10) A racist and a conspiracy nut.

My only addition would be to replace Larry McDonald with Helen Chenoweth.

B1 Bob is most certainly not a racist; He was a civil rights activist.

Very close to my list. Some of them were remarkable in some aspects and thus added some needed "spice" into routine Congressional life, but still - ......

08-11 Grayson maybe, but '13 Grayson is currently the best member of the 113th Congress.

Top of the list, using the standard of who actually did the most damage to this nation?  James Madison going away. If anyone is interested, I will explain. But maybe someone is up enough on their history to know what I am talking about. Smiley

well the type of person I picked is someone who seems to be a part of the lunatic fringe and is just a f-cking asshole that no one from either party likes. Very much a "troll". Also someone who probably would fit in with the American Independent Party or Black Panther Party but runs under one of the two parties because that's the only way they can win.

The senate is different. I'd honestly say the worst of the senators mentioned is still not as bad as the best of the house members (ok Dornan isn't as bad as Bilbo). But the way the senate works, they all have the ability to make an impact since its a collegial body.

Thurmond was indeed a piss-poor Senator before the late 1960s, often missing votes and almost never getting involved in matters that were not related to his opposition to the civil rights. After 1968 he became actually very effective in aiding his constituents affairs.

In no particular order...
20. Richard Nixon (People forget he was a Senator)

In all fairness, Nixon served just 2 years before becoming Ike's Veep and was much more "active" in the House.

Inyoue: I am strongly against deathbead succession but, since that's the worst of his crimes I'd leave him at about 20th

LBJ: Mostly for his actions as president, not to mention my personal belief that he was responsible for JFK's assainaton, he did have the most to gain from it. Since none of it is related to his Senate Tenure he comes in at 18th on my list.

Besides the fact he benefited the most... The Reality is we will never know just who was behind the JFK conspiracy.

Since you didn't specify whether it was the end of WWII or its beginning, I am going to take advantage of the loophole to throw in Rep. Hamilton Fish III (R-NY) (not to be confused with his moderate son or far left grandson).
