I'll stand by my comment a few days ago:

LOL Mitty "absolutely loves" Terry McAuliffe and his political matrix score is positive E and barely negative S...his hatred for "right-wing Democrats" will never fail to confuse me.

it begins to make sense when you realize Mittyism is nothing but an otherwise random conglomeration of strongly held, non sequitur opinions.

whatever he 'averages out' to be on a spectrum is rather incidental and without much value in any actual analysis of Mittyism.

WalterMitty is a Rockefeller Republican (i.e. center-left social policy, center-right economic policy, general technocratic lean) who has entirely correctly observed that there is no place left for him in the atavistic, nihilistic Republican Party of today and has, thus, switched over to the only remaining option.

In a sane world he'd be a moderate Republican.  In the world we actually inhabit, I'm glad to have him as part of our big tent.

Absolutely.  And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Rockefeller wanted to privatize Social Security.

Hell, Rockefeller himself was probably more left-wing economically than socially. I myself don't really know where we got the idea that "Rockefeller Republican" should mean fiscally conservative. It's pretty ironic.
