In the absence of the new professionals and resources, would the cost savings still be attained? What is the cost of effecting that increase in relation to the savings anticipated?

Basically, do these savings actually occur once sought or is this an elusive prospect?

If you set it up so that Fritzcare would cover the entire cost of hospice care and would only subsidize end of life hospital care up to the cost of doing it through hospice I would imagine that would work.

Yes, but how would you tie the two together. If a set number, what happens when the costs rise and the government payout does not?

Something I just noticed. Shouldn't it say clause 10 instead of section 10?

Well it is Monday now, so it has better work, because I am going to offer it if no one else says anything soon.

So we aren't going to do anything that makes this cost effective? Fantastic!

Aye!

I don't understand why you people aren't supporting limiting the amount Hospitals can get for end of life care. Also, this bill overall is just clumsy and I think will be prohibitively expensive. Count me as a no vote on it.

Hey, you're absolutely right. One last amendment after this before we hopefully get some kind of final vote.

Yea I have just about had it as well. I have no problem assembling a bill on the floor (how could I? Tongue), but the sponsor has to at least put forth some effort into that process and I have carried this long enough.

If the amendment fails, I am washing my hands of this.

Vote on Amendment 57:20:

Aye (5): Maxwell, NC Yankee, sbane, TJ in Cleve, and Tmthforu94
Nay (5): bore, Gass3268, Napoleon, TNF and Xahar

With five votes in the affirmative and five in the negative with time having expired, the amendment is tied and requires the Vice President to break the tie.

Okay, I get that we're cutting end-of-life backing. Why? Moreover, what other options are available? I should read the original bill as well since I don't have context. Hang on.

I had an aged relative who passed about 5 or 6 years ago. He declined mentally in his 90s to the point that it was not possible for visiting nurses to even provide care let alone the family. There was extreme confusion, then sleep, then non-directed rage, and incoherent, random talk that would go on and on.

Nothing overly personal there in telling that since it happens, but I just wonder what other options we have for the elderly.

The idea here is to incentivize hospice care over treating these people in the regular hospital setting. Sjoyce recommended as a means to control the cost of this program.

That said, I must say that I do have my concerns, including regarding the text that we wound up going with, which was the product of the usual silent review, something which always has have left me unsettled.

I would recommend consulting with the GM as you consider your choice, Mr. Vice President. He will be of the most help to you in understanding what the amendment does and why.
