I'm in full support of this bill. I'm interested in seeing how much this is going to cost, but I will not dismiss the program out of hand because it might be costly; rather, those with the most ability to pay should pay the costs of this program. I propose we fund this program with a surcharge on the net worth of individuals in excess of $1 million personally, but that's just me.

One measure that I would like to consider is encouraging families to take care of older relatives, effectively providing Hospice care by themselves when they are able and qualified to do so. I never lived near my grandparents as a kid, but I honestly believe that bringing different generations together would be valuable for everyone involved. Society would be far better off if we didn't sequester the elderly away from the rest of us.

I would be supportive of this assuming the families in question would get financial aid for doing so. Adding another member of the family to the mix will no doubt strain the budgets of a lot of folks who already aren't making a whole lot of money.

I object. 5% is insane, so 2.5% is worse. That is giving people free housing and food for 10$/month. People in hospice care will obviously have less expenses (because hospice care takes care of some needs), so it's normal than a signifcant part of their income goes to housing/food, like everyone.

It would be unfair for working people which have to work to get housing and food to give those things for free to seniors.

So what would you propose instead? Allowing working people to get housing and food for free? (I'd totally be down for that, but this Senate likely won't) Or encouraging seniors to die quickly?

I am completely and totally opposed to that amendment. We should not create separate classes where none exist presently, so far as job category is concerned.

Oh wow. Should we tinker with this a bit to cut costs?

Or amend it to raise funds for the program?
