If ya'll read on, this is actually a good profile of him. The only thing is that the author acts like the general election might actually be, 'ya know, competitive.

This is a good check-up on Nebraska (since no one pays attention to states like these). Sabato's Crystal Ball still has this as "likely R". I would argue this might be Safe R now. I just can't imagine Nebraska sending a democrat to Washington with Obama in the White House.

On a related note, Bob Kerrey may be headed to the State Department.

If Bob Kerrey runs, it instantly becomes Toss-up/Tilt D race. He won many elections back in the 90's.

Would that be the same Bob Kerrey who got thumped last year? Wink As for Osborn, yeah, he's a great candidate.

If Kerrey couldn't beat Deb Fischer, he is not going to defeat Shane Osborn.

Osborn, a rising star or just a decent candidate?

FTR, here's the full article. As for windjammer's question, Osborn hasn't gotten any national conservative press.

You mean, Nebraska is going to elect a democrat in a sixth inch mid-term, who just lost in a D favoring presidential year?

OK, I'll wish Kerrey good luck.

If he runs that is.

If he keeps up these field-clearing abilities he's definitely a rising star.

He hasn't cleared the field. Indeed this race hasn't gotten any attention from conservative media  except for a Sasse TWS profile a few months ago. They should since Osborn has the bio and record.

Sasse has no electoral record, though...the one primary poll conducted (admittedly, a kitchen-sink, not a Osborn v. Sasse head-to-head) had Osborn at 18% and Sasse at 3%; Osborn at 48% name recognition and Sasse at 17%. It doesn't seem to me, as yet, that Sasse is a serious threat to Osborn.

No it doesn't. Not even close. Bob Kerrey just got crushed last year by a relative nobody, no way would he win this.

Don't worry. If one of you didn't answer, I'd have to stop being ironic. And I love it.

Real action will be in the Pub primary. We'll see if Sasse gets any traction, but it'll be hard to know since Safe Senate races rarely get polled in the off-year.

I'm thinking even Brad Ashford for Attorney General is questionable: For  a politician, he is poor at seeing where the wind blows in Nebraska. He was a Republican til 2011, and is now a Democrat.

Roll Call has a write-up on Osborn. They mention this recent poll:

Omaha banker Sid Dinsdale is entering. He's the fourth Republican to enter, but could likely self-fund.
