I assume this is Ed Rendell, former governor of Pennsylvania?

In this scenario Kerry probably does better in PA, maybe winning it by 5-10 points instead of just 2. But since Kerry won the state IRL it wouldn't change the overall outcome.

Most dramatic scenario- Rendell has rust belt appeal helping Kerry win Ohio, thus winning the election.

I don't know how much of a difference would be made. Rendell was known as a smooth politician who would say anything to win. I voted for him though. The biggest thing is whether or not a running mate would make that much of a difference.

rendell would have made up ground in Iowa and NM but he needed Warner to win Ohio 20EV.

Depending on how much of a role Rendell would've played in the campaign, he could've flipped WI, IA, NW, PA, OH, and NV leaving Bush at 249. Granted this is an extreme scenario. John Edwards was an awful running mate who even paled in comparison of Dick Cheney. Not many running mates help a whole lot though. In fact half of this country doesn't even know who they are.
