Since forumites are more politically aware than on average, it must be because they were conceived nine months earlier when their parents were celebrating a win for their side or commiserating a loss in the November elections.

Everyone on the forum has the same dad, but different mothers.

Most forumites have birthdays in the August/September/October MSA because a lot of normals are born then too. It roughly falls 9 months after the holidays.

I think wishing people here a happy b-day has become a fad again. It usually happens in the Summer. So, there's no real increase in birthdays, just an increase in birthday wishes.

The most popular birthing times are April-June while Dec-Feb is the least common.  This stems from human hormones being slightly higher in autumn, like other mammals... so people in committed relationships are more likely to conceive in autumn.

It has been found that children with spring/summer birthdays are less likely to come from broken homes and will generally do better in school... while winter babies are more likely to come from young, single parents that got busy in the spring when the weather got nice.

Or bad, as in the case of my primary school class. 5 births in the second half of december (incl. yours truly), 9 months after an easter reputed to have been one continuous downpour.

Interesting that Feb 14 is darker than the rest of February. Also interesting that July 4 is not very dark.

And I would've thought that due to administrative errors, Jan 1 would be darker. I knew a girl in my high school class who got that date by default because she didn't have a birth certificate, and no one recorded her date of birth (she was from Kurdistan)

Psychology obviously plays quite a role. Look at the 13th across all months!

I always thought Feb. 14 was a common DOC, but not according to that chart.

More likely it's women whose due date are around Xmas choosing to have C sections to beat the Xmas rush.  Similarly, there's probably a spate of C-sections before New Year's so as to get that tax deduction in time. Unless you insist on natural childbirth or like having your name in the paper more than getting a tax deduction , you don't want to be the couple having the first baby of the year.

Is that just the US? I ask because July 4th and 5th are oddly anomalous.

Yes, it's just based on American births, so you're right to note that the 4th of July is odd.

If its only US births, rather than US residents' births, that also neatly explains the lack of a january 1st issue.
