That approach is a bit problematic (Ireland has always been blue), but it's an interesting visualization.

The way most coalition governments are handled is pretty poor, but on the whole the map does show what's happened over the past 40 years.

Oh, Great Boardbashi, I humbly beseech thee to add this link to the "Demographic Links" section of the original post as the Australian Bureau of Statistics - Table Builder website. Although it costs money to register for Table Builder Pro, the standard Table Builder Basic offers free registration for non-commercial purposes while still providing the opportunity to save tables for future reference. Also, despite its name, the Table Builder allows the user to map the results presented in the table, whether by raw number, by percentage of column or by percentage of row. The maps are in five shades of colour and the bands can be determined by the user - whether natural break, or I think quintile, and possibly user-defined values. I believe the current maps are presented as an overlay in Google Maps.

Antony Green linked to this website in an article he posted on Monday. I would strongly recommend it for looking at maps of individual booth results at the 2010 federal election.

Great detailed Austrian election results maps (down to the town level) for the last 3 federal elections:

2013:

http://www.strategieanalysen.at/wahlen/karten

2008:

http://www.strategieanalysen.at/wahlen/karten2008

2006:

http://www.strategieanalysen.at/wahlen/karten2006

...

These maps are awesome because it has a "moving tool", which allows you to see which party had at least 1% in which town, at least 2% in which town and so on.

For this you need to click on "Gemeinden/Partei" and move the button below the map to the right side.

General Discussions:

- German Elections and Politics
- Italian Elections and Politics, 2015 ed.
- Spanish elections and politics
- Austrian Elections and Politics
- Swiss Elections and Politics
- Dutch Elections and Politics
- Electoral type events
- Small Island Developing States Elections

(sorry for placing them here, but I think those threads should be in a stickied thread somehow - the national map threads would be good to have links to as well)

The creation of an index of the country-specific threads on the International General Discussion board reminded me this one hasn’t been updated since long time ago.

Here are the map threads created since the last update; maybe a mod could add them to the FP

Great Britain
UK 2015 General Election maps
Comparison of the 2016 Referendum and 2017 General Election
Northern Ireland Local Election Maps

Ireland
Irish Election Maps

France
France 2017 presidential election (1st round) by communes

Other European countries
Austrian Election Maps II
Greek Election Maps
Italy 1994
Italy 1996
Portuguese Election Maps
Russia 1917 Constituent Assembly Map

Asia/Mideast
Japanese Election Maps

Canada
Homely’s Canadian Maps thread

Latin America
Colombian Election and Demographic Maps
Mexican Election and Demographic Maps

Africa
Madagascar 2013 Maps

Anzacland
Australian electorate maps – by poll/locality/postcode (includes a map of New Zealand 2014)
New Zealand 2017

Other
Urban Maps

I probably missed a few, notably I’m pretty sure there was an Indian Maps thread started by Al. Also, unfortunately, most of Homely’s mapgasms no longer appear Sad

I plan to post here the maps (Paraguay and various African countries) I have already post elsewhere on the Net. Should I turn the Madagascar thread into a generic African maps thread or start a new thread?

Also, additional election links if anyone is interested:

Ecuadorian election results since 2002 (not including referendums)
Greek election results since 1996
Luxembourgian election results since 1994
Peruvian election results since 1995 (doesn't seem to work for the older ones)
Portuguese election results since 1999
Website of the Madagascar High Constitutional Court with very detailed election results since 2013

Elections in South Africa are scheduled for May 29.  In case anyone with an interest and expertise on South African politics wants to start a thread on it...
