I've been studying a lot of stuff about the Pirate Party recently and basically they compare themselves to the Green party movement (internationally) in the 70s/80s. With internet freedom being comparable to environmentalism, and both basically rising from veteran activists joining together with youth who make the issues a priority that "traditional" parties tend to neglect.

With that in mind, either for ideological or practical reasons do you prefer the Green or Pirate parties internationally (US or any other country which has both). Direct comparisons can be found in European countries and Australia for example.

I would categorize both movements as leftist, though the Pirates have some libertarian elements that can be similar to say Ron Paul supporters here in the US.

I much prefer Pirates and think they have a promising future ahead, Greens may do ok but they have struggled to expand.

In Canada, I would prefer the Pirates. Not necessarily true in other countries though.

In general Pirate Party, tho there are some decent Green Parties, such as the Canadian one, but definitely not the US one.

Pirates are sort of a stupid joke party, but so are a lot of green parties. Generally greenies though.

Greens have some influence in my country, Pirates don't.

Plus I don't really know what Pirates stand for apart from internet issues.

I regard both positively, and think they both have commendable core values. For the time being I'll side with the Greens since the Pirates are pragmatic and without any guiding ideology when it comes to political economic systems. From one election to the next, however, I am very likely to consider candidates put forth by either group with more interest than those running for their Democratic or Republican counterparts.

Greens, though here in the US they really need to stop letting the conspiracy theorists take over.
