Incredibly dull but sensible. Much more interesting is finance. Oddly CPA's don't seem to know that much about finance, even something as simple as present value analysis. They just check to see if others count fairly and correctly, and disclose. Sometimes the checking is inadequate, and they don't catch fraud because they don't engage in adequate sampling, or do no sampling. That was the reason Arthur Anderson collapsed. They skated on audit work viewing it as a loss leader for consulting. The smart CPA's generally do tax work, which can be extremely challenging. The complexity of some of the issues is just daunting.

I was a Poly Sci major for 3 years, realized that it blew and was a fraud, without much intellectual rigor or content, and then for my 4th year, and a 5th year, went to the Graduate School of Business and got an MBA. So technically, my major as an undergraduate was business, when I got my undergraduate degree after the 4th year.

I thought you did law, Torie.  Or is business law what you specialize in?  Either way, nice choice.  I know a few things about economics, but it's definitely not my forte, so I probably would have stuck with PS if I had to choose.

For myself, theology.  I want to specialize in pastoral care/Christianity.

He'd best not rack up too much in student loans and/or have a backup plan.

Good lucking with that.

Undecided, will almost certainly change 20 times before I settle on one.

The smart approach. I didn't know what I was going to do until I actually got to university. I swore I'd do political science, but in the end it seemed very abstract and conceptual. I'm glad I kept my options open.

Double major in history and geography.

Both subjects are very interesting.  Geography is underrated as a major.

I double majored in math and political science and then got an MBA.

Same as me (well, poli sci). So, while it is a great subject, it is poor for getting a career. Hash should be fine though, as he is bilingual, and exceptionally brilliant.

I got the impression in college that the political science department more or less functioned as a waiting room for students who planned on going to law school. I never actually took a political science class in college so I can't really comment any further.

Anthro is rather interesting; I have a tendency to get lost in the maps, but early humans are rather fascinating. International studies is pretty readily explicable here, and of course appeals to many on this forum. I'm wondering what you'd like to do after getting your degree. I'm sure travel is in the cards.

Double in business and statistics, which I'm sure is a pleasant change of pace for the forum.

Good major; however, doesn't quite give a lot in terms of options.

I have no doubt that his #GOPSwagg will carry him through even if he'd done a Master's in Basket Weaving.

Interesting, always been fascinated by Japan, but sadly, I'm sure I don't have the patience of learning a non-Latin script language and would be worried by the job outcomes.

Good major, I have to do a lot of that stuff in school as well, but I kind of hate it.

Can be as vapid or rigorous as you make it. I assume you're being rigorous and therefore approve of your choice. My only concern is that it doesn't look like it'll lead to a job.
