There was some thread a while ago that was like "on a scale of 1 to 10 how similar are the previous poster's views to yours" that me and some other people on the irc were making fun of for being ridiculously oversimplistic and started trolling by posting things like "4.20" until it died. Here's that same concept in a less stupid version. Actually talk about how the previous person's views are different, giving more detail than just a number. Try to say something other than just "she's more socially liberal than I am" or such meaningless crap ;3

Hmm. Our worldviews are probably quite different. Politically speaking on social issues we probably range from complete disagreement (on abortion) to agreement on libertarian/social liberal grounds (such as on drugs or censorship of media). Economically your economic views are fully socialist while I'm more of a Third Wayite/social market economy advocate. Our biggest differences in this regard are probably globalization/free-trade issues of which I'm an enthusiastic advocate of while we probably agree on the need to preserve the current entitlement programs with as little cutbacks as possible. While I'm not completely sure on your foreign policy views, I'm pretty sure you're not a liberal internationalist as I am.

Quite similar.

Economically, we're both moderates who believe the government should play a role in reducing poverty, providing health care etc, although you are a bit more statist than I am in the details. We both believe in the welfare state, but I tend to be more free market in terms of the day to day workings of the economy. You are a total free trader, while I support tarriffs (but not for protectionist reasons).

Socially, we score similarly in terms of Atlas test questions, but you seem to be much more socially liberal in thought than I am. In terms of actual policy differences I don't think you support divorce restrictions like I do.

Foreign Policy: You are a liberal internationalist, while I am one step shy of being an isolationist.

Very very similar, one of the closest on the Forum.

We're both sort of RINOs on economics, though I think DC is a tad more of one than I am. I do not support tariffs for instance. On social issues we probably agree on almost all of the commonly mentioned ones. The only difference there is he's viewing them from a Calvinist lens rather than a Catholic one, but the political results are largely the same. Our social PM scores are more different than I would have guessed from his posts, but I think that's a result of the somewhat ambiguous national security questions that are holdovers from the 2004 era.

Very different, but we have some strained agreements (Immigration reform, for example). In general, I think TJ and I have a similar temperament.

We're diametrically opposed insofar as economic policy is concerned, but by-and-large I think we agree on social issues. Maxwell is one of the few people on Atlas who wants to legalize all drugs (iirc), actually legalize (not decriminalize) prostitution, and is rather anti-gun control -- all issues where we have a common interest and agreement.

Like none at all. But unlike some other people, we still love America and guns, so it's all good y'know?

Both of our political views are heavily grounded in a specific (sub)cultural tradition, and the groups we associate with are pretty much as different as possible. We may have some agreements but we are opposite in the same sense that electronic and country or bubblegum pop and hardcore are opposite.

I am a man, she is a kitteh.  I enjoy steak, she enjoys meow mix.  I like to do fun human things, she likes to lay on smooth paper and catch bugs.  I poo in a toilet.  She poos next to the litter box on the floor.  I knead bread dough.  She kneads peoples faces when they are trying to sleep.  I slip and slide on a slip and slide.  She slips and slides on linoleum.  I enjoy swimming.  She enjoys clawing your face off if you put her near water.

Obviously we're very different from eachother.

We seem to agree on most issues with the exception of climate change, which I'll admit I'm no where as versed in even though our opinions differ.

Somewhat similar.  But, he seems more idealistic on policy whereas I'm more technocratic, pragmatic and empirical.  Also, he seems dovish and isolationist whereas I'm internationalist, realist and unsentimental.

Very similar on economic issues and foreign policy. Our main difference lies on some social issues especially on abortion I'm pro-life and you're pro-choice although like you I'm pretty pro-law and order.

Our views are very similar on foreign policy, but quite different on domestic policy. I'm pretty far to the right of him economically, along with being somewhat more liberal than him on social issues, such as the fact that I'm mostly pro-choice, although we are more similar on social issues than he porbably realizes, such as the fact that IIRC we both support the death penalty.

Similar on some social issues, but not all (i.e. I don't support the death penalty, he does).

Quite different on foreign policy, very different on economic policy.

Bradly speaking, morgieb is more like a typical Democrat, not to sound pontifical. I'm far to his right on social issues, which may be because I think institutions, governmental or otherwise, should play a fairly active role in promoting and reinforcing moral standards and religious values in society.

Economically, I'm a few points to his right so there are likely a few issues I'm more fiscally conservative on.

Seems more of a social libertarian than I (probably disagree on immigration, drug laws and prostitution to name a few), and that defines his politics much more than it does mine - nonetheless, we agree much than we disagree and are clearly comrades.

Fiscally: He has no faith in capitalism, while I do. I suppose we could agree on a few things like universal healthcare but even there we disagree about the methods

Socially: Thought he was my polar opposite but apparently you're more conservative on drugs and prostitution than you let on. Still, we're very different.

Foreign: Actually semi-similar. Both of us really dislike random foreign interventions.

More similar than different. He's probably more socially conservative than I, and I think I might be to his right on economics. Meanwhile, I'm probably more aggressive on foreign policy than he though I'm certainly no fan of us getting into this "Syria" business.

I'm honestly not sure where he stands on a lot of issues, but we agree on all of the important things, such as the awesomeness of America, Andrew Jackson, Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley, and Jack Kemp.

We probably agree on almost nothing economically. I'm no fan of Buckley, either. We might agree on some social issues, but I'm probably much more socially libertarian than he is.

i think we probably agree on a lot, except unions and the virtues of supporting democracy worldwide.  i also dont believe in confiscatory tax rates.

wait, is he a protectionist too?  if so, we certainly disagree on that.

I think I'm more unlike you than Hash is Tongue

But yeah, I can think of some "issues" where we have the same solution (some foreign policy, I think you believe in ending the drug war tho not 100% sure abt that), but in those cases it seems like we reach the same conclusions from diff premises.
