Despite winning the 2012 election, nothing has changed. The gop have passed nothing and the country is in total gridlock. All the spent  money all those campaign ads and the gop have done nothing to recognise that obama won the election. Online, radio and tv you have all these gop activists, commentators and politicians talking with the same anger and hatred.

What would congress be like if Obama really was a socialist?

They would have all become suicide bombers and Capital Hill would be a mess of rubble. Luckily, though, they'd all be dead.

Actually, the GOP has passed roughly 112 bills that have died in the Senate. Numbers are tricky things.

I don't think they actually think he's a socialist, that's just for political reasons.

Actually, the GOP has passed roughly 112 bills that have died in the Senate. Numbers are tricky things.
And aren't 40 of them ObamaCare repeals and other nonsense?

I don't think they actually think he's a socialist, that's just for political reasons.

No, they really do think he is one. In the 20 or so years that the Cold War has been over, Americans have forgotten what real "socialism" (taken to mean the amorphous, simplified ideological blob spanning everything from Stalin to Mao to Pol Pot to Castro) looks like.

"He wants me to pay more tax on the capital gains from my stock portfolio? SOCIALIST!"

"He wants to expropriate the company I own stock in and not compensate me for it? SOCIALIST!"

"He wants to force me to work in the factory of the company I once owned stock in as punishment for public political criticism? SOCIALIST!"

"He's having his secret police take me out behind the factory for a very brief kangaroo court with an execution by firing squad to immediately follow? SOCIALIST!"

Nope, especially as the bulk of those 40 were in the last Congress and are thus now invalid, and not included in the 112. Numbers are tricky things.

What is that list of House resolutions supposed to mean? That Hugh Dryden for some reason hasn't got his test range and that Black Hill cemetery is worth mentioning? Or that something urgent is supposed to be done about certain Wisconsin highways?  And where are the Fruit Heights?

A list of bills wholesale downloaded off the Thomas database says exactly nothing. I can see only one purpose in downloading this list: to boast that you know how to do it, without really saying anything meaningful. I do not see the point of the boast - I am sure any freshman student can be taught to do it. And I do not see any other point of doing it whatsoever.

I think his point is, numbers are tricky things.

The Republicans have been crying socialism since Roosevelt. Absolutely nothing would change.

In addition to the number of pretty meaningless bills listed, a substantial number are sponsered by Democrats. Their dying in the Senate almost surely had to do more with the GOP caucus obstructing them, which speaks in favor of the post Krazy speaks to counter.

Krazen's ethics are tricky things.

It is highly amusing to see the bolded sentence without evidence of it being actually true. But I guess that was the entire point of this thread.

There is no way of compelling Harry Reid to act on these bills, which is of course kind of interesting because he demands that the people's House vote on his bills. But the Senate has only sent over about 20 bills. Numbers are tricky things.

Fruit Heights is a city in fast growing Davis County, Utah. The act in question gives them some federal land so that they can grow their city and improve their community.

And why is that at all relevant for anything being discussed here? Except, of course, that knowing about the Fruit Heights will be useful for me in playing geography trivia games.

Not much different, since the party thinks he's a socialist anyway.

Yep.

I do think Obama's way too ideological, but he's not a damn socialist.
