There's also a ridiculous belief that video games makes you more violent and more likely to commit acts of violence.

The way I see it, video games are a way to blow off some steam and not some kind of trigger.

Even if video games made you more violent, who gives a flying flip?

Truthfully though, it probably is because there are people that still believe only kids play video games. I understand that's why it took so long for Australia to get an 18 rating (though most people wanted one, but the system allowed only a handful of people to block it, in this case some some asshole state Attorney General.) Lots of olds will still react with surprise upon learning that someone out of college still plays video games.
