A term with too much baggage.  I'm rarely clear on what people mean when they use the term, except that they are comparing it positively or negatively with something else that is also very often vague.

Hence my parameters, to allow for social democracy as part of capitalism while excluding full socialism or communism.

With some government intervention, regulation and welfare, absolute FE. The least worst system ever tried.
For anyone who says "most of the world is poor" or "it's failing worldwide", you're working with outdated statistical  information or have a narrow minded, EU-centric view. Within the last decade global prosperity and welfare has increased massively in almost all nations. Poverty has been hugely reduced, etc. Look at Brazil, China (Marxist In Name Only), Mexico, India, Estonia etc.

That still doesn't clarify what capitalism is, only some examples of what it is not.

Neither capitalism nor socialism could be described as freedom economics. The closest we can get to is a social democracy.

It's a sad reflection on the forum that FE isn't winning by more.

the existence of an anticapitalist movement has been what has allowed capitalism to function since 1929.

It is too broad of a term for me to judge it fairly. I lean toward HE on this but also want to
acknowledge that some forms of capitalism could, at least in theory, be in the FE category.
Likewise for corporatism, syndicalism, communism, and many branches of socialism.

Being an umbrella term for pretty much every system that leaves people with even the slightest shred of personal autonomy intact, I'll go with FE.

Cannibalism hurts the working class less, obviously.

It leads to terribly uneven economic geographies, and once the winners and losers have sorted themselves out I think it's very tough for the economic order to change... but in the end, it's the best we've got.
