What's the overall mood of the Atlas forums?

What sort of vibe does this place give off? To me, if the Atlas were a candle, it would smell like raw sewage and cinnamon. That is to say, it's pretty awful but there's just something about it that is so, so good. So, um.. quixotic? Oh, I forgot to include that one. Uh..

Why do I get this feeling that Memphis doesn't have any Pub friends? 

To be fair, I don't have many Republican friends either, but then again I live in a D+33 (or thereabouts) town in a D+20 county in a D+10 state and I still have some.

Hmm. I made an observation that has elicited a few responses, but no actual rebuttals. Suggests I'm on to something. I don't have any Republican friends that I can think of off hand, but it's not because I talk politics in real life. I don't. I get it all out here on the Atlas Forum, where people have voluntarily signed up for opinions. But Republicans in real life are not usually the sort of people you want to know. Without fail, they're greedy rich people, religious nutters, misinformed conspiracy theorists, and/or racists. As a party of narcissism, paranoia, and true believers, the GOP doesn't attract fun people with healthy social skills.

Your statement rebuts itself Memphis, and sometimes it is better not to get in the mud pit. If you think you "won" the argument that Pubs are despicable people, socially unskilled and no fun and on and on, be my guest in thinking that. It must be sad though going through life viewing such a high percentage of your fellow Americans as execrable. Those kind of comments also tend to make things more caustic around here, and that is another reason to just shy away from it all. I usually do ignore your comments that I think are way, way out there, and that is one of the reasons (and why I didn't respond to you directly but decided to just make a wisecrack to someone else who did comment).

So it looks like its pretty horrible as republicans are very upset at Obama and democrats are very upset at republicans, hopefully the 2014 elections will take some of this arrogance, bitterness, and rudeness away that were seeing. I always try to remain optimistic and happy (in mood) throughout my day even when its really bad sometimes, its too bad were not seeing that here.
