DeLay, because although he's not my favorite, he is very cunning.

I'll go with lott, I think.  He's a funny guy.  Makes me laugh.  Good singer too.  Very nice voice.  He's not as entertaining as Orrin Hatch, but more so than those others you have.  DeLay kinda scares me.  Not funny.  The others are kinda funny.  Nobody can beat Clinton and Dubya, though.  We're gonna miss them when they're gone.

Scwarzennegger would be okay too, if he were a native.  He's funny.

Sonny Bono would be okay too, if he were alive.  A great republican.  He's not funny, but he used to be married to Cher.  That's awesome.

But I'd still pick Kerry for senate over any of those guys just like I did in 1996.  Kerry's a fine US senator.  He'd be a lousy president, but he can pretty much have my vote any time he runs for US senate.

I think the members really need to read the job descriptions in the US constitution for US President and US Congress.  There seems to be some bizarre will among The People to apply the Peter Principle at every opportunity.  Let me make it simple for you:  A president is a cop.  That's all.  Just a glorified cop.  A senator is a lawmaker.  That's all.  Just a glorified city councilman.  Would you want a cop to be making your laws?  Now, think about that children for just a moment.  And, would you want your lawyer to be The Enforcer?  Think about that one as well.

Okay, glad we got that settled.  Now, roll over and go back to sleep.  Smiley

check it out:  I got some very special chianti for about $8.95 a bottle.  This particular chianti normally sells for about 20 dollars or more, but the local olive garden (yeah, that's right, Olive Garden!) overstocked it and I got a steal on the case.

Was it in Hannibal or in Silence of the Lambs during which Anthony Hopkins described Chianti as the perfect complement to Human brain?  I think Hannibal.  Anyway, it also goes pretty well with pork fried rice.

Thanks Ian,
There's an Anthony Hopkins movie coming on Sunday night at 8:30EP/7:30C on, oh I forget, whatever channel "Monk" is on.  Looks like it'll be good.  Edward Norton is in it as well.

Unless of course John McCain and his ilk have their way and ban all violence from the consumer by law based on the supposition that we're unable to choose for ourselves what amount of violence we can take before we go postal.

Did I mention I'm not a big fan of McCain?  If I didn't, let me mention it now:  I'm not.

Ah, but what about LBJ?  I think he showed that a lawmaker can be an okay President on some things.

Making fun of the left wing of the GOP are ya?

Yeah, I'm a johnson fan and I don't care who knows it.  Me and Al Sharpton.  Chris Matthews:  "Reverend, who's your favorite modern president?"  Sharpton:  "Well, except for the War, I'd have to say Johnson.  But even in spite of the War, I still favor Johnson best."  What the hell?  There are Reagan Democrats.  Why can't there be Sharpton Republicans?

Anyway, I just mailed off my income tax refund forms, so today I'm a Reagan fan.

Or, as plutocrat extraordinaire and gun-nut Carla Howell, Libertarian candidate for US Senate (MA, 2000) used to say, "Smaller is better!"  At least till I get all my checks, and until I find myself in need of any governmnet services, I'm in accord the right wing of our party.

I suppose Lott. After all, what is his imagined crime, saying nice things about an old grandfather on his 100th birthday? My dad grew up in South Carolina, and for his generation, Strom was a regional hero, not just for segregation, states rights, etc., but for the same sort of pride in the Old South that keeps the Confederate battle standard waving over the capitol building in Columbia. My dad still has a "help Uncle Strom elect Nixon" bumper sticker in the attic. Too few people really understand the South of our parents generation; Lott was not talking about lynchings and "white only" toilets and automats. Sure, the comments seem a little odd outside of Mississippi, Alabama, and South Carolina, but all Trent was really trying to provoke was that little twinkle in Strom's eye and his hearty, wheezy laugh; one last bit of joy before a well deserved rest after a lifetime representing his folk as seemed best to him.

'Course, Lott ain't my favorite, being significantly more conservative than me, but DeLay talks church a bit too much and too overtly (I love Bush, but I have limits!) Coburn seems to be a Buchananite isolationist- rebulcianjew, you do realize he wants to end all aid to Israel? Not that it's a very significant portion of the Israeli economy anymore. Bunning was quite a ballplayer but seems a little off his rocker now, and Kerry appears beholden to a regurgitated form of Chamberlainite appeasement, Namophobia and welfare-statism in a time of war and big new ideas. So Lott. But I'd rather keep my good ol' W.
