Assuming that, in some bizarro universe, there was a young, well-spoken, fiery left-wing Democrat intent on halting the raising of the debt ceiling until taxes were dramatically raised on the richest people in the country, would you support that person's actions? Assume that this fictional person is doing everything that Cruz is doing/has done thus far; filibustering for hours on end, splitting the party to this end, etc.

Going to run this for five days and see how it turns out.

No; raising the debt ceiling shouldn't be the big issue the Republicans are making it into and I wouldn't like Democrats to politicize it, either.

Absolutely not.

These sorts of dangerous hostage-taking, quasi-Leninst tactics ought to have no place in a pluralistic, open, and/or fair society– no matter how noble the goal.

Option 3

Quality of process takes priority over quality of results, so as to best preserve a liberal order.

yes, absolutely, I'd love to see such a self-confident left faction with this type of power and determination to use it.  such is why I have a hard time condemning the actions of the Cruzists from a purely bourgeois-moralistic ("you're holding the country hostage!") POV.
