Has contributed to my incredibly low self-esteem and has given me the impression that i'm always wrong and should apologize before and after most of the things I say.

This poll is offensive to people who have two fathers.

There is no one I admire more on this planet, past or present, than my Dad. I give him credit for those aspects of my character with which I find favor.

FF, not politically, hell, we don't agree on all that much, but I do respect and look up to him.

FF; one of the few members of the family I have real admiration and respect for. Definitely an inspiration.

Love him, and its sad to think I've now been on this Earth more years without him than with him.  However, the phrase "Earthly father" makes me cringe and consider retching.

Well intentioned but I handle him best in small doses. Very OCD and quick to anger.

We never got along when I lived with my parents, but our relationship has improved since I moved out of the house

Around the time when I began to think of myself as an adult, I realized that there's no one in this world who I resemble so closely. Disturbing. My father is creative, smart, and industrious, but he's also judgmental, overbearing, and lacking in empathy. Rarely an easy person to spend time with.

Why aren't you both Republicans then? Wink

We've got a touch of the Cats in the Cradle thing going on....but we're both so easy going and unemotional...so it's not that bad.  Makes me sad sometimes because I see me and my boys going down the same path.  My older boy more than the younger, but his mom moved him to Atlanta when he was 2...so I have an excuse...not a very good one, but it is an excuse.

I don't know him. I have no memories of him. My step-father and I have never had a close relationship. My biological father and I have a nonexistent relationship.

FF, we may be poles apart politically (if he was on the forum, he'd have a D-AU, I-AU or O-AU avatar, a slightly negative E score, and a negative S score), but he understands me, on par with my mother, the best out of everyone I know.

Sure, we've had our differences over the years, as all children do with their parents, but we get along great.

When I was younger I felt a lot of resentment towards my father for what I perceived as him having left my mother, brother, and I. I have since been able to see him more often (the divorce was finalized sometime around my middle school years) than I had previously and as a result have come to move away from that opinion. My father isn't perfect, but he does his best for me, my brother, and my two little sisters. He's one of the best men I've ever known.

Absolutely sterling character.  I'm almost exactly like him except that I've learned from his few 'mistakes'.

In terms of political views? FF.

In terms of how good of a dad he was? Nowhere near FF, but not enough to call him HP.

I never even met my biological father.  He didn't want to take the responsibility for raising a child, so obviously HP.

Freedom Fighter. Came from a family with parents who were awful with money, dooming them to a certain state of poverty. Nevertheless, he was able to get a few Masters degrees and make a living as a church organist, private teacher for both voice and piano (and organ, of course), as well as a choir director of sorts.
