The political attitudes of every college are liberal--either typical left-wing or far-left.  Personally, I'm on somewhat of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Those are in the minority, and I bet most of the students are liberal, even if the faculty isn't.

Isn't Hillsdale the school that refuses any kind of federal funding?

Not necessarily. It really depends on the location and school type.

Within Utah, for example, nearly all of the major universities in the state are actually pretty conservative. Not just the aformentioned BYU, but also Utah State University, Southern Utah University, Dixie State College, and Weber State University, to name a few, all of which are public universities.

This is mainly because these colleges, for the most part, attract people from Utah and the surrounding areas, meaning that many of the students will already be fairly conservative to begin with.

The only colleges in Utah that I would consider "liberal" are the University of Utah and Westminster College, which are both in Salt Lake City, and tend to attract more people from out of state (Westminster for its somewhat unique status as private, secular, liberal arts college within the state, and the University of Utah for being a major research University that would be likely to attract a lot of people from out of state, in addition to a lot of in-state people).

Outside of Utah, I can think of plenty of other public universities that are fairly "right-wing", Texas A&M probably being the best example. So I'd say that while universities are generally left-wing, there are also plenty of right-wing universities scattered throughout the country.

Well yes, that tends to be the political outcome of knowledge and education.

What's the most left wing US university? It would be nice to pick a team to follow in NCAA events.

The most left wing schools barely have athletic teams and are generally small schools that don't compete against big schools on TV.

But, I would bet that the answer is something like Hampshire College, Bard College or Oberlin.  My pick would probably be Hampshire.

Um, what?  At least in the public ones on that list, professors are going to be FAR more liberal than the students.

As far as BCS schools go, it's UC-Berkeley (Cal), but it's a joke athletic program, at least in the major sports.

Very establishment Republican, plus I was Greek and had minors in geology and business, though Wendy Davis is an alumna.

Mostly liberal, some libertarians and a few religious conservatives, overall not particularly political.
