Good lord, I didn't think I'd be voting Lenin over an American politician.  Until today, that is.

And as awful as that is, the alternative leaves more to be desired if even a portion of these I dug up are real...

Never thought I'd be forced to vote for Cruz... at least his Presidency would discredit the Tea Party forever.

Yeah, it's disappointing to see so many "liberals" and "progressives" choose a guy who wants to privatize Social Security over a guy who simply takes their ideological inclinations concerning economics up to 11. But that's how it's historically played out. The history books are full of "center-leftists" that joined forces with the far-right rather than allow the far-left to gain power, all the while the opposite NEVER happens.

It is not a simple matter of far left versus far right. Lenin was far too ruthless and comfortable using violence to get his way in politics, and on balance seems more authoritarian than Cruz. There are many socialists and communists - even from the years leading up to the formation of the USSR - I would prefer to Cruz but Lenin is not one of them.

Cruz, of course.  If it were a US election, he would win, but if it were a global election, Lenin would absolutely kill him.

Your definitely right about that! If it were a U.S. election, Cruz would probably carry every state (with the exception of possibly Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, D.C., Hawaii and California), but if it were a global election, Lenin would probably win all but maybe 5-10 countries.

While I understand where you're coming from, it's not like Lenin lived in a place and context that was liberal or democratic in practice (the results of the 1905 Revolution none withstanding)....

And besides, every government has some element of violence associated with it. Tongue
