Did your parents scold you for using bigoted slurs?

Think our mam pulled me up once or twice, but inconsistently, as for example we had learned to call the corner shop that's 10 mins away - as apposed to the one around the corner - as the 'paki shop' and had been calling it that for a significant amount of time before getting pulled up about it by her. Don't think our dad's ever done so - and has used them himself.

Words like "Neger" (a slightly nicer German form of ni**er), "Zigeuner" (gypsi), "Ausländerpack" (bunch of foreigners, pretty negative) are still pretty common here.

I never used them, except here. I use the word "Black" for "Neger" instead.

No, because I never used such like terms, especially not in front of my parents! I never took up the childish tendency to call people various offensive terms for "gay" when I was very young.
In German, like Tender, my family (and I) use the word "Neger" although this is in fact not a bigoted term even though the untrained eye may think it is.

Nothing can be compared with the Holocaust against the Jewish people of course these days, but on a much lower level people still have the same prejudice against foreigners and/or muslims. Also in the rest of Europe and the US as we know.

I, unfortunately, grew up in a racially charged environment. The casual use of such slurs was taken for granted. However, I wasnt taught to hate- it was more an environment where differences were stressed, stereotypes held firmly and an overall parochial or tribal separateness celebrated. Of course, it is only a quick and east step from general prejudiced to hatred and I disavow it all now.

He's my business partner, has some of his own money in, is essential to the business (far more than I), and in every sense my equal. I know, you do this to get a rise out of me. And it works.

I swore around my parents pretty constantly (and vice-versa) but I never considered using racial slurs.  The great thing about swearing is that it's universal, non-exclusionary, and totally stupid.  Racial slurs are pretty much just totally stupid.

I'm also pretty sure my parents would have told me off for it.
