My friends and fellow colleagues of Atlasia, after much thought (well, really two minutes' worth), I've jumped into this special election for At-Large Senate. Why, you ask? We've lost a great member of the Senate with shua's departure, and I wish him the best. I am running to continue on the sort of reputation that shua created for himself as a legislator: an active, productive member that stands for fiscal responsibility and maximizing freedoms for all.

Should I win, I shall not seek a full term in the regular election coming up. I shall do my best for the month or so that I represent the people of Atlasia, and that is my pledge to you. If anyone has any comments or questions, those are always appreciated of course. Let's have a fun election! Smiley

I'm happy to endorse you, Assemblyman. I've witnessed your effective leadership while you were in the Governor's office and the legislative know-how you've used in the Assembly. If Atlasians want an able and competent Senator, you're their guy.

You're also the perfect fit to fill shua's shoes in the Senate. It's critical that we don't lose this seat to the left.

Wait, are we talking about my shoes or my seat?    I think I may need to keep my shoes.  They make  a nice pillow.

This looks to be such an interesting race I was almost tempted to jump in, but instead I'll give Spiral my endorsement.

According to some, I apparently have won this special election. This surprises me, but I'll take it! I'd like to thank all of my supporters for making this victory possible, and I also want to thank all of my opponents in the race for making this election interesting, as short as the campaign was. Onward to Nyman!

After my month-long stint back in the Senate, I've remembered why I left the Senate in the first place. Never mind that, though. It's time for me to return to my roots and serve the region I love so much, the Mideast. We may be in a rough spot now, but the activity seems to already be ticking up as of late, and if all goes well the progress should continue in the months to come. Whoever the next governor will be, I hope to work with them to restore the Mideast to what it used to be. My main priority in office will not be cutting taxes or improving education per se, but revitalizing the region, because without that we will go nowhere.

So, with all that said, I hope to have the support of my fellow Mideasterners later this month so we can put the Mideast back on track. Thank you for your time! Smiley

I thank the good people of the Mideast for bringing me back to the Assembly! I also want to congratulate TJ and Tmth for getting a full term and my partners in this new Assembly, Mecha and Hifly. Let's get the Mideast back on track!

According to media projections, I will not be in the next session of the Mideast Assembly. This is a loss which I fully accept and I would like to congratulate all of those, on the left and right, who have won seats this month. I'm honored to have assumed the role of Speaker for a number of months and I hope my efforts to revive the Mideast over the past year have been of some value.

There has also been some speculation as of late as to whether I shall run for another certain office. All I will say on that is that a decision is coming very soon. Stay tuned. Wink

You've been a great speaker, Spiral. Good luck for your future campaigns!

Hold on though, why did you call a bunch of bills up for a vote? Is that procedurally necessary? In particular the rail bill still could have been amended.

I echo New Canadaland's sentiments. Your presence in the Assembly will be missed.

Also, would you consider answering these questions for the Mideast Record Courier?:

1) What do you hope to accomplish in your final days as Speaker?
2) The Mideast Democratic-Republican Party fielded three candidates for Assembly in the last election. Considering that your party only has four members in this region, was that an overreach?
3) Will you be a candidate for federal office in February?

Thanks,
-Harry S Truman
