He's a good guy but his espoused political beliefs have always been one-dimensional and hyperbolic, replacing well-reasoned nuance with an unyielding observance of a pre-selected ideological line. His thought process is not based on facts or arguments, but rather the single question of, "I am a (ideology). What does (ideology) have to say about this situation?" This has become increasingly transparent through each of his self-reinventions.

At least the chap is reasonably honest and cheerful about his alleged "shortcomings"  (about which I really lack the knowledge to opine - sometimes one kid tends to merge into another in this tired old man's mind). That is not a trivial matter. Some think they are the cat's meow, when a reasonably objective person would be of the opinion that they suck.
