In accordance with exec order 21, bgwah is promoted to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

There are 72 hours for questions, and I will note that bgwah has been active in all of my cases.

bgwah is a bit before my time, so I admit I'm a bit unfamiliar. However, it seems you are deeply qualified and ready for the job, so this should be no problem.

Is there anything that may prevent you from being Chief Justice in the upcoming future?

Would you describe yourself as a strict constructionist, a judicial activist, somewhere in the middle, or neither?

I have been here since December 2008 and I haven't the slightest idea who he is.

Appointee person, do you think you could list your experiences that qualify you for this position?

I "vaguely" remember feeding someone to the creature in my signature back in 2010, after I asked who the idiot was that messed something up on the wiki...

...pretty sure they'd be dead though. But I must say it is rather, "vague". Tongue

No. But I also don't intend to serve on the court forever.

Would you describe yourself as a strict constructionist, a judicial activist, somewhere in the middle, or neither?

Within the context of Atlasia? I would prefer to be a strict constructionist. However, I recognize that an internet game's constitutions and laws aren't exactly bullet proof. They are often very vague if not downright contradictory, which can be seen in multiple decisions this year (examples: Marokai Blue vs. Atlasia, Napoleon vs. Governor Spamage)

In my opinion, this necessitates a more activist approach at times. And during such situations, I tend to consider how I think the law was supposed to work, or what would allow the game to most properly function.

So I guess the answer is somewhere in the middle. Smiley

Well I was actively involved in partisan politics until early 2012, so if he doesn't remember me that's his fault. Tongue

At one time or another I've held most positions in Atlasia. The most relevant experience is that I've been an Associate Justice for over a year. As Ebowed's activity declined this year, I believe I stepped up to ensure the court continued to function properly. Before that, I was one of the longer-serving Attorneys General. I was frequently brought to court as a defendant early in Atlasia. When I was Pacific Lt. Governor, I served as that region's judicial official. So I've experienced just about every side of Atlasia's legal system.

I plan to vote in favor of this promotion, and have no questions for Justice Bgwah.

Oh don't worry, I support you Mr. Big. Tongue

In fact this stupid routine was inspired by having watched so much Colombo in my time.

In fact, it is because my memory is so good that I can recall a time when a certain President appointed a certain someone to be Attorney General and this certain someone received barely any questions and got confirmed easily. This someone then proceeded to do next to nothing, that is until the next election, which just happened to be contested in a legal sort of way, at which point this someone pulled an Al Haig. So you can thank that certain President for the third degree you and all nominees can expect. Tongue

This goes to a vote in about five hours, just a heads up, Mr. VP.

Time shore does fly when your having fun.

Aside from the contigencies that you mention, would you concede that at least in terms of Atlasia, such a stance would make you a judicial conservative? If so, I am intrigued by what background and motivations would lead someone with your credentials in other areas to become much more cautious when it comes to use and application of judicial authority?

And before you try to scream litmus test to ignore my question like Ebowed did unjustly in 2011 (and that was for asking him who would be his model for an ideal justice in terms of temperament and style, not a lick to do with ideology), I would have to state that I am not talking about ideology here but judicial approach and the use of the terminology is meant to describe an approach as opposed to an ideology as the use of the word "cautious" should convey, but just in case it didn't...

In your opinion, is it necessary for lawsuits to have a defendant?

Okay, we're at final vote time here, although bgwah may certainly still answer Xahar's question.

In your opinion, is it necessary for lawsuits to have a defendant?

If you're summoned to Court, you don't have the option to not show up.

We don't have any real enforcement capabilities in an internet game, so there is little we can do if defendants decline to participate.

Confirmed currently at 6-0. Bgwah has been promoted to chief justice.

We don't have any real enforcement capabilities in an internet game, so there is little we can do if defendants decline to participate.

Understood and agreed. Since it's a game, I hope that would not prevent you from rendering a decision based upon the merits of the case presented should a person decide to not show up.
