He did have some authoritarian tendencies during the war, although it's tough to name anyone who wouldn't, although I certainly don't agree with the internment of the Japanese. He also didn't push too hard for civil rights although he supported them because he didn't want to lose the south. Of course you can't really compare him by today's standards, he was certainly socially liberal for his time.

And how about Rick Santorum? I say 6, 9

Yeah, BRTD Santorum is close to that, but I'd say +4 econ., +8 social.

My opinions on PA Pols (eco/social):
Keystone, PADem, nini2287, or other PAers please help where you can.

Federal level
Arlen Specter: 0,0
Allyson Schwartz: -4,-8
Bob Brady: -7,-6
Chaka Fattah: -7,-9
Mike Fitzpatrick: +2,+5
Jim Greenwood: +2,-3
Joe Hoeffel: -4,-6
Curt Weldon: +2,+3
Jim Gerlach: +3,+4

State and local
John Street: N/A.  How would I know?
Mark Cohen: -5,-5
Mike McGeehan: -4, +1
John Perzel: 0, +4 (what he tells Mayfair/how he votes)...
+4,+8 (how he WANTS to vote)
John Taylor: -1, +4 (votes and how he feels)
Dennis O'Brien:  KP, I won't even attempt this b/c you would know better than me
George Kenney: +2, +5

You do realize that is significantly further to the left than me or BRTD?

6.)  Evan Bayh

yeah, we all know someone like that can easily get elected in Indiana.

Minnesotans:

Gil Gutknecht: 5, 6
Mark Kennedy: 6, 6
Jim Ramstad: 2, 0
Betty McCollum: -5, -5
Martin Olav Sabo: -7, -5
John Kline: 6, 6
Collin Peterson: 0, 4 (DINO)
James Oberstar: -7, -1
Mark Dayton: -4, -3
Norm Coleman: doesn't really have a score since he's just a cheap political opportunist who goes with whatever benefits him the most. But the way he's acting now would be a 6, 5
Tim Pawlenty: 5, 2
Paul Wellstone: -7, -7
Michelle Bachmann: 8, 9
John Dorn (my State Rep.): -4, -4
John Hottinger (my State Senator): -4, -6

Um... very few American politicians belong in the lower left quadrant. Methinks Mr. Obama is more closer to -2/-2 at his most extreme.

Wow, I missed that one. Too funny. A -10 economic score probably means you're against private property. I have no idea what a -10 social score means.

John Ford is in the lower left quadrant. The charts of where they have politicians and world leaders is definately bullsh**t, I doubt Kerry is to the right of Ford.

Alot of politicians are more moderate than you average political junkie.

I'm a 6.5/7 and I am further right than Santorum, so I'd peg Santorum as a 5/6.

                 Eco   Soc
Santorum     5       6
Specter        3      -1
Sherwood    3       4
Greenwood  3       0
Hart              4       3
Kanjorski     -6       0
Holden        -3        2
Toomey        4        5
Hoeffel        -5       -6   the reverse Santorum
Schwartz     no idea at all, most likely near Hoeffel
Casey         -3         1
Rendell        -4       -4
Weldon        3         2
Fitzpatrick     4        3
Ridge            3         0
Schweiker     4         1

Most Populist:
Kanjorski

Most Libertarian:
Specter

Most Conservative:
Santorum

Most Liberal:
Hoeffel
