Most of us follow politics closely and clearly support one party in our own countries. Are there any countries where you would be a swing voter?

I'd probably swing between Social Democrats and Socialists in Scandinavia.

Germany I guess. SPD and CDU are really closed economically, so...

In Britain, I'd likely swing back and forth between Labour and Lib Dem depending on the candidate and the issue.

Outside of the UK, where I'm pretty strongly Conservative (though not conservative), a lot of nations, but in particular the USA, where I'd choose based on the candidates.

Between the Left and the Greens in Germany (increasingly the former, though).  Probably in most Scandinavian countries I'd swing around between the left-wing parties, though more and more leaning towards the far left.

I'm probably a UK swing voter - but swinging between bothering or not.

UK (Tory-UKIP)
Germany (CDU-AfD)
Norway (Conservative-Progress)
New Zealand (National for the most part, although I'm open to ACT and United Future)

I'm sure there are others as well.

Netherlands-Probably would be hard pressed to choose between D66, PVDA, and VVD
France-Between PS, PRG, and UDI (depending on how pro-austerian the last party is)
Sweden-Between Liberal People's Party, Moderates, and Social Democrats

In general I'd be conflicted in continental European countries with both a centre-left social democratic party and with a social liberal or a Christian Democratic pro-European party on the other hand.

Netherlands: I have a distant relation who's an SGP politician, so I might be convinced to vote for them even if CU is my preference.

Germany: CDU and AfD. This is a tough one. I don't like AfD's populism, but they seem to be better for socons in most cases. I'd probably vote CSU in Bavaria.

Switzerland: I'd bop back and forth between the Federal Democratic Union and the Evangelical People's Party. Probably more EVP than FDU.

This, and I'd probably swing between the Liberals and NDP in Canada.

If I lived in the UK I'd be a swing voter between UKIP and the LibDems.

That's... Interesting... The most anti-European party and the most pro-European party.

Probably because Small L is a libertarian, and I thought the BNP were the most anti-European party? The BNP want the UK isolated from the EU (and the rest of the world), while UKIP want to leave the EU, but have trading relations similar to Switzerland or Norway.

It must be nice to have the choice (in the European context) between liberal-conservatives and conservative-liberals.

Netherlands: VVD vs. CDA
Denmark: Venstre vs. Conservative
Belgium: CD&V or CDH vs. Open VLD or MR
Switzerland: CVP vs. FDP vs. BDP

UK: Any of the three depending on candidate and national atmosphere
Germany: FDP - Green swing voter
France: Not sure if I'd even vote

On the other hand in Canada I'd be NDP every time.

I wouldn't have to leave my country to be a swing voter in Quebec. My current party of choice there is a fringe federalist social democratic party (UCQ) who may not be around for very long.

I'd be a swing voter in many countries, including the US (Dem vs fringe left), Australia (Labor-Green), the UK (Labour-Lib Dem-fringe left), Germany (Die Linke-Green-SPD) and France (PS and the Left)

New Zealand (National for the most part, although I'm open to ACT and United Future)

Pretty much the above. Although I would only vote Tory in general elections.

France. Much of Scandinavia I suppose. Quebec. Was going to say Japan, but I don't even know who I like there in the first place, let alone who to vote between.

Countries I'm at least vaguely familiar with: Germany, between the CDU and FDP. Italy between the PD and whatever the post-Berlusconi right turns out to be.

All those European countries where the left parties are usually a choice between "Boring and rarely competent Moderate Heroes" and "Not entirely in touch with reality True Leftists" depending on which one is irking me more at the time.

In many of the European countries, I'd probably swing between the various socialist, social democratic, and green parties.

There aren't that many.

Germany- I suppose now that the AfD is around I could consider voting for them but I'd probably still vote CDU/CSU.

UK- UKIP would probably be the best option for me I guess, but that seems like a throw-away vote. Of the main three I'd imagine I'd be a swing voter between the Tories and Labor.

Switzerland- For my American self it would look like I would be an obvious CVP voter, but if I actually lived in Switzerland I might have a different view of immigration and consider the SVP as well. Of course if I immigrated to Switzerland it's pretty obvious Tongue I'm also not sure whether a CVP-SVP swing voter can actually exist.

Ireland - I probably would have been a Fianna Fail/Fine Gael swing voter until recently, though I doubt I'd be able to vote for Fine Gael anymore.

Of course, being an American I also don't know what I'm talking about Wink

Why Labour?
