Today we had the first snowfall. It's currently snowing and by noon we will likely have ca. 10-15cm (4-6 inches).

Some valleys and higher towns (above 1000 meters) + mountains will get ca. 50cm of snow today (20 inches).

The "problem" is that it's still too wet on the ground, so the snow is not sticking and will be gone by tomorrow. Temps are now at ca. zero degrees Celsius, but will pick up to about 18°C by Monday again.

Here's a picture I took in the early morning:

Thanks for getting this song stuck in my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtWI-gnSF7s

It's coming in to summer here. Long, warm days, mosquito bites, barbecues, a glass of wine on the deck as you listen to music. So much better than the short, cold, rainy days of winter. Stuck inside bored. It doesn't even snow here so it's not pretty either - although even in Ohio the snow is only nice for a short period before the ploughs sweep it away into a dirty heap on the curb. No, thank you.

I'm hoping that it cools down soon. Early Autumn is the hottest time of year in the Bay Area, and has been intolerable as always.

The leaves are quickly falling off the trees here.  And the forecast looks like it's gonna get cold and crappy... which in mid October means snow.

Winter here is probably going to be pretty bad- It's been unseasonably cold since late September, and their's various folk beliefs that are projecting lots of snow.

When the snow falls in the morning, the pics are not too great.

But I speculated on something: When the snowfall stops and the sun comes out in the afternoon, with the mist and clouds gone - then the pics are great !

I took those when I came back home in the afternoon (you can also see the moon up next to the mountains when you right-click the pictures):

You look like you live a million miles from civilization. Where do you work?

Hahaha, rural Austria is well - rural - if you live in a bigger US city.

Of course rural Austria is similar to rural Colorado.

By "rural", I mean that I live on the outskirts of a city with a population of 10.000 ... Wink

I work in the city though.

Rain here.  Lots of it.  All day yesterday, all last night, and all day today so far, breaking the record for the day of 2.07 inches set in 1922.

Depends on where you are.  October  through February are fantastic here: lows about 55-60, highs about 78-85, cool breezes,  reasonable humidity (unlike the rest of the year, which is too hot or humid).

Heh. Snow. Might get down into the low 80s in a few weeks, that'll be nice.

Winter's nice. And I say this as a resident of a place where the school system cancelled 19 days of school because of snow.

I'd rather just enjoy autumn, which I like on its own. The only good part of winter is Christmas. After that, it just becomes depressing.

^^^^^^^^^^
Right now is the best part of the year. Longest time before more summer.
