Don't think he'll win, but he's good insurance in case Ryan's favorables drop a bit more.

Ryan will still win. Romney only carried it 52-47 on Obama, but Ryan almost always exceeds that, in fact 2012 was the first time since 1998 that Ryan didn't get over 60% of the vote. The only reason Zerban did so good last time was because he convinced people that Paul Ryan didn't care about them when he was running as Vice President. I would call this a Likely/Safe R. (This also happens to be my home district).

Shout out to his dad who died in that horrible accident, RIP.

Since when is some nutball white supremacist going on a shooting spree an accident?

It was probably an accident because the supremacist meant to shoot Muslims, not Sikhs! /sarcasm

If he's a Sikh, does he wear a turban?  I wonder how much of a political liability that would be.  Maybe it doesn't matter too much, since Ryan probably won't be defeated.

I'm interested in seeing the explanation of how an intentional shooting is an accident....

It is a true testament to your hackishness that you are going after me when this dunderhead called the Sikh temple shooting an "accident" then fixed it with an "incident." Besides, I said on the "Opinion of ElectionsGuy" thread that he is "not an HP."

What he did was a mistake in word choice, we all do it.  And I rather be a hack than be a dick who resorts to personal attacks, like you.

You called him a racist but you don't think he's an HP? Do you approve of alleged racism?

This will be a tough district for Democrats to pick-up, but Kaleka is an intriguing candidate. I would not be surprised to see the DCCC rally around him in place of Zerban.

At least Kaleka won't have money problems. The Indian-American community seems to be very supportive of its own candidates.

Here's hoping that if Zerban loses in the primary, he turns his considerable campaign experience/apparatus towards helping Kaleka, and if Kaleka loses, he helps with fundraising.

I like Zerban better at this point (I followed his campaign updates last year), but Kaleka is quite intriguing as a candidate, and could shake things up a bit.

I think Kaleka sounds like a really intriguing candidate. He seems very well spoken from the interview quotes and the best way to run against Ryan would to be to run an "outsider" campaign.

Wellstone/Feingold (circa 1988) outsider v. insider campaigns do seem to work somewhat well in the upper midwest.

The best way to get at Ryan is not to attack him personally but to point out that he's not really serious about doing the job anymore. Perhaps Kaleka can do Ryan a favor by allowing him to move on to bigger and better things--lobbying for Wall Street, Fox News hosting, etc.
