I support eliminating the IRS and replacing our current system with a 0.0000002% tax on purchases of blue-speckled goats while increasing spending on everything I like, balancing the budget with cuts to those OMG Gigantic items in our budget like foreign aid and PBS.

I'm really for tax stratification - different levels of government having different taxes so people can identify where their money is going.  The feds should keep their income tax, the states should be funded by sales taxes, and localities by property taxes.  As for the federal income tax, I'd be for making it simpler and flatter, but a totally flat tax is going to screw working class people over.

Progressive tax with the top rate at around 40 to 45%.

Steeply progressive income tax with top rates approaching 100% plus a 100% tax on all inheritance.

I wouldn't tax all inheritances at 100% (just put a cap after which the marginal rate is 100%), but otherwise this.

In something like the current political and economic arrangement, I would support this, if we are talking about combined taxes to all levels of government.  Ideally, taxation would be voluntary.

I fear a Henry George style tax in this era would harm rural areas in favor of the urban wealthy and could lead to food insecurity.
