Almost certainly not. Why would she want to give up her safe Senate seat in order ro run for a race where she'd have only 50/50 odds or be only slightly favored? She could definitely beat Burgum, but he's quite popular, I believe.

She wouldn't lose her seat unless she won, and she could then nominate her successor.

Still, seems super unlikely.

Only if she loses in 2018 by a tiny margin.

In that case, assuming it isn't baked into the state constitution, the legislature could still pass a bill changing how Senate vacancies are filled before she takes office. I think we are long past the point where no one can trust each other to not do things like that.

She isn't going to be a Senator in 2019 so maybe.

I could see her run if she loses by a hair in 2018. I'm a little doubtful that'll happen, since she really knows how to run as a Democrat in North Dakota.

Tbh, it seems like a good move. If she wins re-election in 2018, she wouldn't have to worry about vacating her seat to run for governor. And if she is elected, she gets to appoint her replacement anyways.

Maybe this is an obvious point, but it depends on if she wants to be governor. If she does... and she ran for governor in 2000, so I guess it's fair to say she might... this would be a good opportunity for her to do it. If she likes being Senator, then she won't.
